Anyone else have this issue with LSi C?

I have an unexpected issue with my LSI C I want to ask you guys about.....I have to set it about 5db louder in order to match the volume level of my LSI 9 mains. I have all three bi-wired and have checked the connections, and see nothing wrong there. And, there are no signs of anything wrong with my Anthem amp or Outlaw 990 processor. It sounds fine with the increased volume setting, but it just seems odd that it would require that much more power to achieve the same volume.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Hello John. Even though I haven't done the HT thing in a very long time, I recall this being the norm rather than the issue.

Thanks for your replies......I know this is the norm when matching volume on speakers with different ohms, but given that the LSI's are all 4 ohm, I am surprised to see it. I believe I recall reading somewhere that the LSI center needs a lot of power, but I thought that applied equally to the 9's as well.

Oh well, I won't worry about it ......but, thanks again for your replies.

I have my LSIC set about 6db higher than the LSI-15 fronts, in order to hear the dialogue clearly.

Mod the crossover and you won't have the raise the center's gain so much.

The location would play big effect on LSiC...when I had CSi3 below TV, the dialog wasn't clear and after putting it on the shelf about 5ft, it made everything so much better...then upgraded to LSiC and kept the volume same as all 3 front speakers

I had no issue with the LSiC. When I setup my system I used the AVR test tone to set all speakers at the same sound level, and the LSiC blended in fine with the LSi15s all around.

I recently replaced my LSiC with a PSB Synchyrony One Center and it made a big differance in sound quality. Amazingly, it dropped right in, and produced the same SPL as the LSiC so I did not have to readjust the settings. It opened up the center with a wider sound stage, is clearer than the LSiC, and blends in perfectly with the LSi15s. Great CC upgrade.
