New Egg or Polk Direct?

New Egg has the Monitor 70's for $199 ea and free shipping. I can probably get a refurbished pair on PolkDirect/Ebay for $340. Are the New Egg M70's new or refurbished? I can't find anything on the web site that says one way or the other. If New Eggs are new, is it worth he $60 more for the new vs refurbished?
Thanks,
kp

Even if New Egg's are new I would save $60 and go with Polk Direct. Nothing but great things have been said about Polk Customer service. The items I bought from Polk Direct all showed up in perfet/new condition.

They are new, not refurb. They would say open box if they were refurbs. I'd go the newegg route.

    Here: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=38416&t=1564211&highlight=monitor+70

Code EMCLXMW27 gets you Monitor 70's in cherry for $175 each

$10 more than ebay polk direct, but you get a new pair. worth the $10 if you ask me.

Also remember Polk's refurbs come with a warranty.

Thanks for the advice. I am getting tired of getting outbid at the last few seconds on ebay and the M70's are calling me...

Just call Polk about refurbs and skip newegg and ebay.

    It's that easy, no bidding.

The 70's are within my limited budget and since music is 75% of my listening and the other posts speak very highly of the 70's for music, I thought they would be a good choice for now. Someday - LSi25's.

Either option is a good one IMO. Newegg is fantastic and as stated they are new in the box and with the coupon codes and bing cash back, you can't beat their prices. However, I have heard nothing but rave reviews for Polks Ebay site and everything that has been received from them has had people wondering if they were really refurbs or not. Either way you will love the 70's I know I am very happy with mine.

I hope you enjoy those Monitor 70's. Given them some power and they sound great. I used a Pioneer SC-07 and there was a huge difference compared with a lower powered receiver. I preferred them to the RTi8's.

Either Polk Direct or New Egg is a good choice. You can't go wrong either way.

Thanks to everyone for the help. My M70s should show up tomorrow from New Egg. They even gave me the $50 off of the $229 even though it expired. With free shipping I am getting a way better deal then I would have gotten on ebay. Now I have to figure out how to sneak them into the basement without the wife seeing them.
I will have to use my HK AVR 354 to drive them for now, but I will be in the market for a Carver or Adcomm before the year is up. I should probably look into a CS2 for the Center. And maybe a new powercord, speaker cables, Oppo, audio and video stand ...
    thanks again,

That HK may be all the power you need. You'll be surprised...

BTW, the CS2 is on sale for $109 @ Newegg through today (EMCLXNN65)...

    Regards and congrats,

Good call on the CS2, I have one with my 70's and they sound great together. Congrats on the speakers and let us know how it goes. You won't be dissapointed, the 70's are great speakers.

I have done three 5.1 systems for friends now with Polk speakers from Newegg.

For a little more $$ you are getting new product. Not a bad investment. As always the Egg+Polk rocks.
