Ceiling Speakers

Just a question of whether I have to use in wall speaker wire or can I just use regular speaker wire, I am wiring my basement and already have 200 or so feet of 12 ga wire

    hmm, at first glance, I would say "in-wall" (i.e., CL rated). Can you return or sell the wire you have? I just ran speaker wire in basement (behind wallboard and above drop ceiling) and I found recommendations for CL rated wire. I believe it to be a fire retardant issue...

    The stuff I bought was from Monoprice, so 300 feet of 12 ga was like 56 bucks so i am not out that much, besides I used some already
