I am sick and tired of seeing stores set up Christmas displays even before they put out the Halloween decor. In my town the department stores started setting up trees and displays in mid-August! They had not even set up for Halloween yet. Now I see Christmas trees on isle 6 and Halloween crap right next to it on isle 7... I am not a deeply religious man by any means, but it seems so disrespectful to celebrate a religious holiday next to the most pagan of all rituals side by side. Why can they not put out the Christmas stuff on November 1st? Is it asking to much to give just a little respect to those that value what the holiday spirit is supposed to be all about?

Rant off.

Its kind of like when a new hit song comes out on the radio and you're diggin it, but then it gets so overplayed you get sick of hearing it--That's kind of like what they're doing to Christmas for me-By the time Christmas comes around I'm sick of it. Unless they're going to include the massive sales that usually go along with Christmas, then wait until after Thanksgiving like what used to be the tradition. Frickin overzealous marketeering firms.

The stores are anxious to get the merchandise on the floors. Many big name stores may not survive depending on how good the Chrsitmas sales are. Macy's is one that's in trouble. The simple fact is the longer and earlier the stuff is out on display, people start buying.

You're starting to sound like the "O" man. It's capitalism at it's best. Enjoy it while it is still available in the U.S.

P.S. It is a little early but the retailers are hurting.

They wouldn't do it if people didn't buy it.

John pagan's have really nothing to do with Halloween.

Me personally find the pagan (religion if thats what you want to call it) very interesting.

    My favorite Holiday is ThanksGiving.

This is not new, and not early because of the current economic situation, its been going on for years.
Just doesn't make Black Friday all that fun or suspenseful anymore. It's not so much a holiday season as it is let's see how long we can string out the customers and hold big sales for an hour on Black Friday while grossly understocking each store so demand is high (to the point of tramplings) and then not stock up again until after the holidays thereby allowing for heavy eBay gouging, etc, etc.

    Just saying...

    "O" man?

And so what if the retailers are hurting--In my view all this does is hurt them even more as I am not biting. I'll show them ;)

If some of these dept stores want to sell more, they need to stock more of the most common sizes. I can't tell you how many times I go to buy a new pair of jeans or shoes and "shocker" they are all out of my size (which I believe is one of the more common sizes). WTH? Seems like simple purchasing to me but what do I know.

Ironically, Christmas trees are in fact a Pagan tradition adopted by the Christians. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_tree#Pre-Christian_roots

In fact, almost every Christian tradition can be traced back to Pagan roots, including the date of CHristmas itself.

And at one point Halloween was accepted by teh church and All Saints Day was actually celebrated at the same time.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Well personally I'd like to see the Christmas stuff come out after Thanksgiving. However, I do understand the stores stretching things out these days. Also the stores aren't celebrating, unless they sell out of everything.

I have come to the conclusion that businesses and individuals will do anything they can get away with to make a buck these days. While we do live in a capitalist nation, is there such a thing as "too much" anymore? Something to ponder...

why do stores even put the Christmas stuff away? Seriously.. there are people who love to shop for Christmas stuff 365 days a year. they should just have a permanent corner or each store.. and leave it up all year long. might as well.. each year they bring out that stuff earlier and earlier.

same thing for summer/winter clothes. mid july that started putting away the shorts and bringing out the heavy winter clothes.. to damn early if you ask me.

BTW, today is the first. day of fall ;)

My local Target has Halloween stuff with Christmas stuff on the isle across. Too funny but it happens every year. I'm at the point I don't mind anymore. I love this time of year and the stuff in the stores reminds me.

The best, Disneyland, they've got all the Halloween and Fall decor up and it looks amazing. Time to start back with the weekly trips to the park. YEAH!
