Intermittant SL3000

I had an intermittant SL3000 (in some 2.3TL's), and long story short I disassembled the voice coil assembly from the magnet. Here are some pics:
The lead that attaches to the voice coil has come unattached (I moved it with a dental pic so it would be more obvious, because it was resting in about the right spot to intermittantly make contact)
Here's the other side, and note the green coating on this (the good side) is completely gone on the open side:
I guess the green coating deteriorated with age, and there aren't many places it can go so I took a thin sheet of mylar and stuck it in the voice coil gap in the magnet, and stirred it around the circumference. The ferrofluid was still liquid, but it left some particles on the mylar when I took it out. My guess is that's where the green coating went.
Fortunately I had a spare SL3000 that I bought a long time ago. The SL3000 with the open voice coil had a 1989 date stamp, and the replacement had a 1992 date stamp.
