Hey all, allow myself to introduce...myself: (scroll to bottom to get to my questions without the story)
I am a 25 year old budding audiophile with increasingly high standards for home audio. My speakers are mainly used for music (jazz, hip-hop, grateful dead, bluegrass, anything good). I am an artist and a musician.
I recently stumbled accross a pair of polk Rt-7's at a salvation army for $50 and so my journey into polk began. I love the rt-7's. I got them around the same time as I got 2 pair of klipsch's (sb2 bookshelves and sf1 floorstanders). The polks won handsdown. Granted those are lower end klipsch's, but they still cost about the same as the polks when new. The bass is good on both but I prefer the warmth of the polks. The midrange is lacking on both but again I prefer the warmth of the polks. The trilaminate dome tweeters on the polk's blow the klipsch horns out of the water. They are more articulate, clearer, and just overall wayyyyyyyy better sounding. The klipsch's aren't hooked up anymore, though I may put them in my studio.
Since then I've found a pair of rt-3's and a pair of rt-16's to fill out my main listening room. One of the rt-16's has a bad tweeter but I was able to find a replacement pair online for 40 bucks. The speakers go great together since they were all made around the same time ('98ish). So now I've got the rt7's on one side of the room in the corners, the rt16's opposite them, and the rt3's in the middle. I also have a pair of swans diva 2.1's that I'm not sure what to do with since they sound so different from the polks, and a cambridge soundworks powered 12" sub that I'd like to replace (loose sounding, doesn't blend in well with the polks). I'm running everything off an older model harmon kardon receiver (avr 65).
So here are my questions:
1. I paid about 300 bucks total for a pair of rt3's, rt7's, and rt16's. Is that good?
2. what do you think about those speakers?
3. what are the best polks ever made?
4. have any suggestions for a good deep tight sub to go with the rt's?
Thanks for your help!

1. No idea, but if you are happy - thats what counts.....
2. While I have not heard them, I know others that have and consider them quite good.
3. Most would say the Polk SDA speaker line (SRS or TL models) or the current LSi line (depending on the effect or the sound you happen to like). Keep in mind that many polks respond well to upgrades. (Crossovers typically - tweeters in some of the vintage lines)
4. Polk micropro line, SVS, HSU, Epik, eD or outlaw (HSU designed). There are others, but that is a decent list. The cost of a good sub starts around $500. (maybe a little less, but for many rooms, that is about the price point you need to be in) If you are decent or even passable working with wood, you can DIY a very good sub (every bit as good as those mentioned above) for $300-$400.
Anyway - Welcome to club polk....

Welcome to the club!
1) Sounds like a pretty good deal if you like them.
2) Haven't heard them, but if they turned you into a polk-head, they must sound pretty good.
3) Best made? Not sure, but the holy grail of this place seems to be the SDA line... I'm curious, but I really don't want to hear them for fear I'll really want them myself. Then my wife would murder me.
4) I'm running an older, but perfectly musical PolkAudio PSW-350. As it is my first real sub, I don't have too much to compare it to, but like I said, it is very tight and musical, not boomy or muddy at all. I use it for my 2-channel and HT set up.
