Hi, I'm currently looking to purchase a subwoofer. I've been looking at the Klipsch Sub-12 and the Polk PSW505. I know that this is a Polk's Audio forums, however hopefully there isn't too much bias. :p

PS: Any other sub recommendations?

Thanks!

    Thanks for the welcome!

Do you have a specific model recommendations? It seems that it's rather hard find comparisons. I tried searching the the Klipsch vs. Polk subwoofer and wasn't able to find any relevant threads.

Those are priced a bit more then I'm interested in spending. I can probably find the Klipsch Sub-12 for around $300 new (Same with the Polk)

Thanks for the recommendations though, appreciate it!

Welcome to CP. I think the Cadence CSX-12 is priced around the same and competes with those subs. Never heard one but have heard lots of good things said for them. What size room are you putting it in? Any interest in buying used? Is $300 your upper limit?

Thanks for the recommendations guys (and gals)!

I had another question. Is it possible to sing karaoke with a receiver/home theater setup? I currently have the videos/songs on my computer, is it possible to ouput the audio from my computer into the receiver and have the mic connected to the receiver?

    Thanks again!

If you can stand you voice! :)

This is basically all Rock Band does, but adds in some instruments as well.

Any HDTV (well, 90%+) made in the last 5 years can be plugged in very easily.

    1. If you TV has HDMI you just need a DVI to HDMI cable and thats IT.

    2. If your TV has DVI you just need a regular DVI cable.

    3. Sound you just need a 1/8" stereo plug to RCA adapter.

If you have an analog TV, check if your computer has S-video out. then all you need is an svideo card.
S video outs look like this.

Checkout the list that craigsub has compiled. Some are pricey but in the forum you can find more cost friendly options.

    http://www.tweakcityaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11

Craigsub is pretty much known as the best sub reviewer. Tweak City is his company. He started a long thread over at AVS (over 200 pages). Basically it comes down to ID (internet direct) will be your best values. You cut out the middleman and get more for your money.

My dream sub(s). JL-F113's. Possibly soon to be upped by the Sub 25's. Small form factor, huge great quality sound but 4K each I'd expect that...
    RTi12 x 2
    RTi6 x 4 Surrounds
    CSi5 x 1 Center
    Rotel RB-1091 x 2 for powering mains
Rotel RMB-1085 for power of surrounds and center
    Rotel RSP-1068
    Infinity ps-12 Sub
PS3/Xbox 360 as source and PC transport
