What's wrong with Audioholics?

The vibe I get around here on these forums is that a lot of people seem to dislike or discredit Audioholics.com. I'd like to know why.

One of the main reasons I see is that a decent amount of people here on Polk Audio's forums support speaker wire claims and say they make a difference regardless of what science says. (Or doesn't say for that matter.) That's fine. Audioholics seems to completely dismiss speaker wire claims. Which is also fine. Being a highly subjective topic, very much similar to religion, you may have whatever view you would like. I think this angers some people and they begin to dislike Audioholics' articles in general.

Okay, so what are the other reasons?

Can someone post an article and dispute it with hard evidence please? Or give actual reasons to dislike AH? Are the writers underqualified? Do they simply clash with your views? What is it?

I don't mean to support either side here. Just wanting to understand.

It takes some brass balls the size of Mars to start a topic like this... all this will do is start a flame war between forums and is never a good idea.

Well AA relies on measurements, and Polkies trust their ears. A lot of people at AA think that you can measure everything. I agree to some extent, but we don't have the technology to measure everything. You can not sum music up with some numbers. One of the biggest jokes is people think that two amps with the same specs sound the same. I am sure some people can't hear the difference. I know when it comes to wine I can not tell the difference between cheapper wine and $200 a bottle wine. I admit that I can't taste the differnce. A lot AA people like to tell people what they can or can not hear. If you can't hear it after seriously listening then yeah you saved your self a lot of cash. This thread is going to get heated for sure, and the bottom line is try it. If you don't like it that is fine, but fools that won't have an open mind just come here off and on tell us what we here is retarded. I am not going to tell someone that they are wrong if they don't like eggplant and I do. I'm not saying all the AA guys are idiots, but many of them can grab hold of my nut sack and swing.
    Cheers

Thanks for the valuable input Ben!

I don't mean to start a flame war. Is it not possible to have a civil discussion about differences?

first you lay the foundation to a flame war, then you pour gasoline on it by injecting politics?.... not a very bright move IMHO. Flame on as I am done here and will not participate in it.

I dislike AA. I don't go there plain and simple. I never post over there anything like you have posted here. It is passive agressive looking for someone to bite. I don't think any of us care too much about what is said over there. Not being a jerk, but If I don't agree with a group as a whole why would I bother to go to another forum to argue with them? I do see however a lot of spurts where it seems like the AA guys get board and start playing games with subjective topics like tubes and cables. People will think what they think and argue about what they think they know. I certainly have. You can easily google something that supports your views and present it like evidence. Have fun with your little game here. I am going back to liten to some tunes and not drag republicans and democrats into my listening.

No. No game. I can already see that most of the people here hate AH. That's cool. I won't bite back. Simple as understanding why. From what I gather. AH is overly objective and PA is more subjective in their topics.

It's not that we hate(speaking for myself) AH, it is that we like PF. What we really don't appreciate is some of the **** hats that come over here to start stuff. It is not all that infrequent that we have people from AH come over here to tell us that people from AH all think we are jerks:rolleyes: And that the senior members try to push gear on people. None of the senior members here profit from our advice, and we always say if you don't like it sell it. Most of us tell people to buy used so they can make their money back, or even make a profit if they shop/sell wisely. It is real simple, and yet this same old stench rises again and again. I suggest if you want to learn and hang out here then drop the AH/PF thing that has been invented in the minds of a small percentage of people over there. They are two different types of groups. choose one, or choose both. Simple enough. Discuss audio, or just BS. But starting a thread like this is not a way to make friends.
Trust your own ears is our motto.

The statement "AH is overly objective and PA is more subjective in their topics" is pretty much a slap in the face to CP, nice job.

I don't buy the whole "I just wanted to ask a simple question'" bit. You don't throw around words like 'hate' if you're just asking a question, you're here to sitr the pot, so to speak. Likewise, your thinly veiled attempt to play the whole "I don't support either side" card is just that, transparent as can be.

It's obvious from your comments and general tone what you're up to, so just come on out with it so it's on the level.

LOL, Knucklehead and Mike. There is always somebody here trying to start stuff. Bringing up AA, speaker wire "myths" and politics in the same thread, he had to have know where that was gonna go. As George (Daniel) not GG once said and I quote "this one is circling the drain" LOL :D

Wait... there is a community of people that actually bash Polks?
    Really?!
That's just weird. I'm going to have to go take a look... BRB, guys!

    ... Alright- back.

Spent about 5 minutes over there... I didn't see any bashing... Just a lot of Infinity and Axion Audio love and not so much Polk love...
