Ceiling Mount Speakers

I have decided to redo my basement, and instead of having speakers haging on the walls I wanted to mount them in the ceiling. Where is the best place to mount them, I have RTi8 for fronts and a RTiA4 for a center channel, and a 7.1 Yamaha receiver how many should I install in the ceiling also?
