This site wants payment through Green Dot-Money Pak which I know nothing about. Insane prices on TVs and other stuff, I just don't want to get taken for a ride! Anyone had any experience with them, good or bad??

Here is their TV page:

    From thier FAQ:
We process our customers Green Dot MoneyPak payments through PayPal. However, WE DON'T ACCEPT DIRECT PAYPAL PAYMENT DUE A HIGH CHARGEBACK RISK.
    # MoneyPak is a safe and secure way to send money to where you need it. The MoneyPak works as a "cash top-up card". Once you purchase it at a participating retailer with cash, you can use it to reload prepaid cards, add money to a PayPal account without using a bank account, or make same-day payments to different companies.
    # You can add any amount from $20 to $500 onto a MoneyPak at most retailers. You can add up to $1,100 at Walmart.
    # MoneyPak can be purchased at thousands of stores nationwide, including major retailers such as Walmart, Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Kmart, Kroger and Meijer. Click here to find a store near you.
    # Pick up a MoneyPak from the Prepaid Product Section or Green Dot display and take it to the register. The cashier will collect your cash and load it onto the MoneyPak.
    # MoneyPak costs $4.95 or less. There are no hidden fees or charges. Just purchase your MoneyPak, use cash to load it and you are ready to go.

The "HIGH CHARGEBACK RISK" is the part that concerns me, I guess they've had or expect enough issues to arise that caused buyers to cause PayPal to refund their money.

In a quick search, while I've never heard of them before, I couldn't really find any thing negative on the MoneyPak cards. I would expect that for these cards to be sold an well known retail outlets, that they must have been vetted through some process, and if not that if they were fraudulent, that they would have been discovered by now and the cards pulled from said retail outlets. Sop the Payment method itself looks like a legit 3rd party way to pay for goods similar to paypal, except no protections. Which again is the part that concerns me since they are so openly concerned about it.

Looks like they will also accept Google Checkout.

This doesn't sit well with me either:
For credit cards payments we require proof of identity and confirmation of address due a high number of fraudulent attempts .

In order to pay with Credit/Debit card please have the following documents ready:

    # The front of the credit/debit card. Conceal the first 12 digits, leaving only the last 4 visible.
    # The front of your driver's license.
    # Proof of address:Water, phone or other utility bill matching credit card address.
That's an awful lot of personal info your giving out there.

    Nothing at BBB either.

I wasn't too optimistic that anyone had had any positive dealings with them, but I still wanted to make sure that my suspicions were as valid as I thought! I emailed them and said I'd be happy to do a straight credit card sale or paypal and if they weren't willing to do that, I'd assume that they're scammers and shop elsewhere. Not really expecting a reply though.

Here is a response I got back after I tried to call (no answer) and ended up emailing their sales email. I questioned their payment options and personal document requirements. Please post if you get anything further in response to your email...

    Hello,

I'm sorry for the phone issue, we received a huge number of orders and
our phone support is a little overwhelmed.

We don't force our customers to purchase anything from us. We don't find
our credit/debit cards terms in any way strange, we require those
documents because we can't deal with chargebacks like big companies do.

    Thank you

At least you got a response, I got nuttin ! Screw em, I don't buy anything without some way of voiding the sale, either with paypal or credit card. In all honesty, it really did seem too good to be true ! It would be cool if a member in New York stopped by their address to see if it's an empty lot!:)

Cheap is the lure to many fine scams, or at least a
piss poor customer service experience. I'd keep moving
    on.
