I want to try them. :D

Let me know what you've got. A pair is a plus, but i will take singles and attempt to track down the twin later.

Would obviously prefer the POA-8000s, but unless someone is feeling really generous, i doubt that'll be in my budget.

    I always wanted a nice pair of POA-8000 since I have POA-3000 and POA-8000 supposed to be a step above POA-3000

    Mind you that this pair is missing the rear top covers. They usually sold within a day when listed in hifido. I think this pair is staying for a while longer due to the missing top covers.

    ACK! Even the ones at hifido are like $2800 USD. Ouch. There's a set on Ebay right now, with one of the two not working properly going for cheap right now, but there's still two days on the auction, i'm keeping an eye on them.

    I'm open to any of them, just to see if i like the sound to be honest, i'm not really set on the 8000s or anything. Probably just dreaming about them. :p

    The problem is that if you are not handy with the repairs or don't have the service manual, you'd be close to paying $1000 for the repair for it. I spent almost $500 on parts alone trying to fix the Denon POA-3000 and labor is free since I fixed it myself.

    Other options for you to try - POA-6600, POA-6600A, POA-4400, POA-2400, POA-2200.

    I like POA-3000 since it's Denon's Push-Pull Class A. I think POA-8000 also may be Denon Class A but not too sure.

    Yeah the 8000 is Class A.

    $1500 is a little too much. I'd say around $1000 max. I've seem the pair like them on Audiogon from $800-$1000 and there was no taker.

    Thanks George. :smile: I saw those up there. Unfortunately, i'm not really in a position to buy at the moment, just bumping an old thread with a $20k pair of Denon Monoblocks i found, thought they were cool.

    I'll be on the prowl again in a couple months, i'll give Tom a ring at that point, see if he's gotten POA-8000s in by then. :smile:

    Audiogon usually has them every few months. I've had a pair of POA monoblocks and thought they sounded pretty good. The topology is simple, capacitance is strong and they're easy on the eyes. It's an underrated amplifier.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    1400W (1 ohm, 1kHz, THD 0.5%)
    1000W (2 ohms, 1kHz, THD 0.5%)
    500W (4 ohms, 1kHz, THD 0.5%)
    250W (8 ohms, 20Hz - 20kHz, THD 0.05%)

    That's the specs on the POA-S1s. Holy hell.

    Yep, i checked Audiogon for poops and chuckles, but they actually don't have any denons available right now. There was a pair of 6600s that sold recently, though.

    BTW: Is it just me or does audiogon not have the volume it used to?

    The overall sonics will be the same depending on how far apart the series is you're looking at. Good luck.
