BP7006s??

I got a chance to listen to Definitive Technology BP7006s the other day. I thought they sounded incredible.

Reference note: I have bilateral P-tubes in both tymphanic membranes so my hearing is severely impacted when it comes to low frequencies

Currently I am running RTI55is as mains, CSI5 center, Polk bipole/dipole surrounds and a Velodyne CHT-12 powered sub in my living room which is 15x12 with one side open to a foyer.

The thing I liked about the 7006s is that I could actually hear the bass as well as feel it. Do these speakers really replace the need for a sub? Would the sub and these speakers be complete overkill? Would they dramatically interfere with each other? I primarily use the system for HT with very little music listening.

Sorry for the simplistic questions but my hearing deficiency complicates matters for me. Thanks!

With all due respect, the only person you probably need to consult with (other than perhaps your checkbook and your significant other) is yourself.

You said yourself that you have special listening challenges, so I'm not sure anyone can (or should) give advice to what sounds best to you.

Besides, seems like you've found yourself the winning speaker. Def Tech is a very good brand.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

    Definitive Technology makes great speakers!

As for needing a sub...I would say it would be up to you. Personal preference is what you should go by. Try them without a sub and then add one to see what way you like better.

Thanks for the input guys. I went ahead and ordered them. I've got a Velodyne CHT-12 already so I'll see what it's like with both. If it's too much, there always craigslist for the sub. It's going to be nice to have a full range speaker again. I've been suffering with RTI55s for too long. They definitely were a step down from my RTI8s I left in Guam. You'd think they'd sound about the same...???
