Hey everyone, I'm wanting to mount my 50" Panasonic plasma on the wall and I am trying to find a good mount that isn't ridiculously priced. Non-tilting mounts will work, but I think that I may buy one that allows for some tilt because I think it would provide a little better viewing angle. I've looked at a lot of different mounts, but would like to hear from some knowledgeable people on here before I make a decision. Thank you in advance!

i got one of these for my 50 inch plasma, it seems well built and it tilts, tilt makes it much easier to connect equiptment. i like it. also i would not trust my plasma to anything to cheap.

My Panasonic 50" is 3 yrs old, I used a tilting mount I got from Costco. It is very secure and easy to use, just make sure you screw into 2-wall studs and you shouldn't have any problems.

This is similar to the one I have:

I'll second that. I've been using a monoprice bracket for about 3 years. No problems. My parents have used them twice, my brother used them, (you get the idea).

Don't pay for Sanus or other name brands. $25 is all you need to spend (plus shipping)

Don't pay extra for the premium one either. The standard one is plenty strong for a 50".

Like others have mentioned, just make sure you mount it into two studs with at least two bolts in each stud. Buy a quality stud finder if you don't have one.

Even this one at 50 is a steal.. My friend uses this one and it is extremely solid.

They are quality. I cant say enough about monoprice.

Thanks a lot guys. I have bought a few things from monoprice before and never even thought to look there this time. Do I really need to buy a studfinder though? I can tell just where the studs are by knocking on the wall. I guess that I would be able to find the center of the stud much easier though huh?

i dont think it matters how you find it. Knocking, stud finder, magic.. as long as its secure in the stud

Hmmm. $2000 TV, $10 stud finder (check Sears). I'd want to be sure I get that bolt right in the middle of that stud. Your call though.

All I will say is that "I" would not trust a wall mounting to just the knuckle test. At the VERY least I would drive some test nails to find the exact center.
But then I am just cautious. In the last install I did for my sister, I inlaid a piece of 5/8" plywood (rest was 5/8" GWB) behind the 1/4" cabinet plywood that was the finish material. AND made an exact layout for the DOUBLE studs locations, which were installed at the exact locations for the frame.
    But that is just me.

I'll go buy a stud finder even though the inner male idiot in me says that I could do it without it;) Thanks again for all of the suggestions. Haven't decided on which one as of yet because I'm attempting to find a new dishwasher right now. Once I get the dishwasher and install it, I'll mount my TV.

kcoc321...I don't think that cautious is the correct word. I think extremely cautious is closer to correct, but that may not even be extreme enough:) If you want to go to that extent doing it, then more power to you. It sounds like you do very thorough work. You going to be around Dayton,OH anytime soon?

Thanks...I don't think that It'll be too difficult to do. I'm fairly handy with things around the house, so as long as I don't have my g/f help me then I should be fine.

IME the cheap flat mounts are fine, like on monoprice. I would steer clear of the cheapest articulating mounts though, especially if you intend on moving the TV regularly. For those I would get a better quality one, like sanus.

I sent you a PM a while back about your wall mount, but haven't heard back from you about it. I'll be buying a mount this week probably, so let me know what kind of mount you have.
