Anyone here with an IB subwoofer set up?

Now that I rearranged my theater room and got rid of the futon I have no space for a big box sub. Currently I've been using a 15" Tempest ported with duel 17" ports and a 250w plate amp in a custom built box. I now don't want a box in the room.

My theater is a room in the garage and I was thinking of mounting the Tempest to the wall of the theater and having it stickout of the theater wall into the garage, an IB set up I suppose.

Any tips, suggestions or otherwise would be extremely helpful. My theater is 9' x 16' x 7'.

You could always strap some felt or thick cloth around the back of the magnet to the wall. Kind of like closing the sub into a very small, very porous enclosure. It's a quasi IB. Half sealed, half infinite.

Running a driver IB will mean that there will be less of an air spring(compliance) to supply a restoring force to the drivers suspension, therefor I'm thinking you may well run into excursion problems with a single driver even though its a very good one.

I think an IB done correctly have huge performance potential.I wish I could build one but it's not practical for my room or my marriage.

not sure OB is the way to go with a single driver.
    Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
    Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
    ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
    Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
    Outlaw ICBM - crossover
    Beringher BFD - sub eq

Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

Thanks Face. It's looking that an IB might not be for me. I think I'll just build another box for my Tempest, might be the easier (and cheaper) way to go.

Yeah, you need to make sure that you have the right driver for it and preferably 2-4 of them. Check out:

They've got an IB model that's pretty affordable.
