Again, since i seem to not listen to most of the same things as everyone here, i don't expect any replies again, BUT:

This CD is AMAZING.

I can't comment on the quality of the producing yet, as i haven't played it on my main rig yet, but it does sound pretty good through the headphones at work. (Sony XDRs) I will update when i get a chance to give it a good listen.

If you're familiar with Muse, and wasn't really a HUGE fan of "Black Holes and Revelations," but liked the older stuff like "Origins of Symetry," BUY THIS.

They have moved slightly away from the old "pound through you" thick textured sound, much more black space which is something i felt the old stuff needed. Almost some Radiohead influence coming through, even though Matthew Bellamy's vocals make Thom Yorke sound like an amateur this time around.

The old school arpeggiated riffs are back, everything is tight, and i can honestly say that somehow (produced or not, i don't care) Bellamy's voice is 130% of what it's ever been.

I can't wait to get this cd on the rig at home. If this is recorded well, it's going to give any rig a good workout. Such a huge range of dynamics, different sounds/timbres and pitch range.

Warning: Unless you have some huge SDAs, you're going to need a sub, i can already tell.

I will update with a song by song breakdown after i get a chance to just sit and listen without dividing my attention between the music and work.

Anyone else hear it yet? You can also hear it by going to the following link and registering.

They've really only got like... 4-5 main albums out. But a bunch of EPs, compilations, etc.... Gotta figure they've been around in some form since 1994.

Kindof like the Goo Goo Dolls. Just found out that they just finished recording their 9th album.

Been listening to Muse for years and seen them live multiple times. In this day in age of crappy music this band is able to rise above and beyond in every album.

In all honesty.... just pick one and listen to it. I can't remember a Muse track that i DIDN'T really like, even if i go back to their first cd.

I really like the 1st and 3rd tracks on the new cd. "Uprising" and "Undisclosed Desires." But then again... the "Symphony" at the end of the cd is pretty good in my opinion as well.

I've seen them twice.... Both times actually when they were on tour promoting "Absolution." They were GREAT live, but it was hands down the loudest show i've ever been to, which really surprised me the first time i went. My chest literally hurt the next day from feeling everything go right through me. Was definitely not expecting that from them.

I like their music, but before BHAR their sound quality was far from impressive.

Yep. Absolution doesn't sound real great on my rig. Origin of Symetry isn't BAD, but it's not real great either.

On the plus side, the new one is entirely decent, i'm pretty happy with it.

And i lied.... it didn't sound bad without a sub. But it sounded WAY better with one. :p

I'm a bit dissapointed at only ~50 minutes of music, other than that not really a weak point on the album for me.

This album does have a couple tracks with a more pop sound, mainly the first track. It's not 'watch the little white ball bounce from word to word across the bottom of your screen' poppy like Starlight on their last album, but still a bit on the pop side. I really like every song on the album though.

I'm about to move on to the new Porcupine Tree album now and give this one a rest for a bit.

That did bug me a little bit... It didn't really have the same "epic" feeling that the last two had.

I think i'm going to go check out Porcupine Tree.... i can't remember if i've heard them before or not.

The Making of dvd isn't very good, think I mentioned that already. It's not really a 'making of' so much as just random moments of nothingness slapped together to take up 45 minutes of space on a DVD. I was really looking forward to something more like what you got from Dream Theater on Systematic Chaos or something like on the last couple Opeth albums, but the extra dvd in this set is pure rubbish IMO.

I'm listening to the "Symphony" on this cd again now...

It's amazing to me that a rock band that put out their earlier albums is capable of producing this music.

Truly GREAT music. And i'm now convinced that this is one of the great voices of the century.

Absolutely, that 3 song suite at the end of the album is pure genius.

Muse really is underrated IMO. In the world of mediocrity that is mainstream music today, they really do stand out. They're original and genuine, the real deal.

Sure there's lots of other great music out there, but very little of it circulates in the mainstream, Muse are somehow able to survive in that meainstream world and still have a 12 minute, 3 part classically themed masterpiece at the end of the album.

One of my favorite bands and albums of last year.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
