Speak/Stand Height

Hi All,

I'm looking to purchase stands for the Polk RTiA3's and I wanted to know what the best stand height is for this speaker. So far there seems to be two options, 23" and 30". At 23" the total height is 37" which is just about the height of the average tower speaker. At 30" the total height is 44".

What is the best height for the stand (RTiA3 is 14' tall)?

Thanks in advance.

Mark

Rule of thumb tweeter height should be at ear level when seated in your listening position. Which is why most towers are around 37". But as you can see that would not put all tower tweeters at ear level for all seating possibilities so it is a loose guide line.

37"-44" is almost a wash, I would go with what gives them the most stability and fits your decor.

I've found it's best to set the tweeter at or just above ear level, so the 30" stand would be my choice.

I decided to go with the 23" as it would give me the same height as the average tower speaker and because I have a lounging couch to watch movies and play my PS3 (low seating position). Thanks for your replies.

There is a GREAT book you can buy online called " Get beter sound " by Jim Smith. Has won tons of awards for best set ups at CES functions. Per his book at siting position , tweeter pass line should be + - 3" of ear level. If needed build platform under listening chair to bring you into specs. Hope info helps. Karl
