Looks great! The 2.3TL's do kind of fit in the room better. They aren't quite so dominating. Personally, I enjoy the look of a speaker the size of a refrigerator, but not everyone agrees...lol

We need some nekkid pics of the 2.3TL's though!

I am rather embarrassed to post then nude until they are whipped into shape,(RDO-198's) as the tweeters are not the same color in each. If someone has a few SL-3000's around I would be most grateful as I want to try them stock for a while.

Very nice John. I read you had to turn up the volume on the sub to compensate for the lack of bass. My 2.3tls put out some serious bass in my 26 X 16 living room. A pre amp made a big difference in the lower end. No sub needed what so ever.

+1 You need a pre-amp. That AVR is robbing you of a lot of sound quality.

Get something with HT bypass, and you'll still be able to use it with your HT system as well, without swapping wires around.

I am looking for something that does HDMI 1.3 switching, but so far they are way out of my budget, but if the goodwill keeps hooking me up, I can get there in no time!;)

Look at the Adcom GFP-750 it has HT bypass so you'll be able to run it with your receiver. It'll made a huge difference.

    What size is your room.

That seems close to me, but again, grain of salt, i don't know much about these. I run my speakers about 8-9 feet apart right now, and it made a HUGE difference from when they were about 5 feet apart. I was thinking about ditching them because i was unhappy with them, but now they've opened up like crazy. They just sound like big speakers and they're not. Before, they sounded like the small floorstanders they are.

I believe Anyone with the SDA's should do seperates if you want them to shine!!
The AVR's just don't cut it IMHO.

A good Pre Amp/Amp/Dedicated CD and or SACD player, TT if you wish. is the only way to go..

If I am wrong then you gurus can hang me now. But with my little experence here seperates bring the SDA's to life.

Try a good Pre Amp and be amazed..

    AVR's suck for 2 channel!!!!

    Peace,

    Larry.

My room is 15x18 and is defined by the fireplace and widows flanking it on either side, so the distance is set and cannot be changed. My seating distance from them is about 10 feet, but when listening I move the seat forward a couple feet and move it back when I am done.

15x18!? Damn!! That's the same size as my room, and I've been having issues with my 2A's being too large for the room recently. I wouldn't even want to have the big boys in here..

I recently hooked my Monitor 7A's back up, and I've been enjoying them a lot more than the SDA's. The 2A's were just too large for the room.

    For $1600 you can get a Pioneer SC-07 & Adcom gfp-750. Itll make a nice HT/music setup.

With that suggestion, the Sunfire would be staying.

    Pioneer Elite SC-07=AVR
    Adcom GFP-750=2 channel pre-amp

I'd go with a GFP-750 myself. It's main drawback is the lack of a phono stage, but it can be argued that you're better off using a separate phono stage anyway for that matter.
