Those are the last iteration of the Mini-Monitors...produced between 1993-1996 Some decent little speakers. I've got a pair of them myself...one of them is currently pulling center channel duty until my CSi5 arrives.
They don't have much low bass extension, but that's a given with their size. The high end is decent...can be a little bit harsh and tinny at times though IMO.The nirvana inducer-

One of the speaker's woofers makes a sort of buzzing/resonance sound similar to what you would here if you place a piece of paper against of sub woofer. This happens at certain mid-low frequencies at moderate volumes. Of course, I have my Kenwood's loudness/bass setting at a moderate-high setting to compensate for the speakers' inadequate bass repsonse. Unless I am mistaken it seems to me that this would be relatively difficult/expensive to fix so I am contemplating new speakers. I would like to get a pair of floor standing speakers that have good range without the need for a powered sub woofer. Once again, I'm using a Kenwood KA-8100 Integrated Amplifier (from the late seventies) rated at 75WPC. (A conservative rating, I'm sure). I'm on a tight budget. Any ideas?

Hey soft,
The guts of these things normally aren't that complicated. It might be worth unscrewing the large driver and pulling it out a little bit (mind the wires that are attached to it) just to see if there's anything obvious the could be loose and buzzing. -
I have had those speakers. Ditch them. Look for some vintage monitor 5's or 7's (just look for the passive radiators. They look like 3 ways). Take your time and find something local on craigs list. If you get something on ebay you end up paying for shipping, and the shippers damage the speakers often. Newbs also need to put their location up in their sigs. We don't need to know your street address, but Polkies tend to be great people, and many are willing to give a helping hand. It is like a family here.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks
