7062 Amperex E180CC NOS (MAZDA)

I just got a (50) pack of some nice Amperex 7062 in. They are labeled for the RT/RTC/Mazda company which produced tubes out of the Philips owned Mazda factory (La Radiotechnique) in Suresnes, France. These however, are delta-coded and thus, Holland made. They have large halo getters and box plates, and were produced in 1960.

Do you have a picture of the codes? I'm curious because I've not seen an "RT" labeled French tube with a Heerlen code.

I have a quad of Amperex orange label "PQ" E180CC with the Heerlen code.

Here you go. 1960 and then stamped 64 week 28 by RT it seems. The RTC 12AX7S I have are like this (two printed date codes though, about a year apart).

IIRC,, these can be used in place/sub'd for 12AT7's,, and they have a little less gain than the AT7's,,,,yes?

Keiko - you got it right. GE commonly made tubes for Mullard and the later 70s version only have a label rather than etch codes.

George - yes, the 7062 has slightly lower gain than 12AT7 and 5965. The data sheets show tests at 150v (7062) vs 250v (12AT7) for these tubes so they appear to have more gain on paper but the opposite is true.

Since we're talking 12AT7, I also have some Telfunken 12AT7 and nice RCA d-getter 12AT7WA black plates.

I taught my 3 year old (my "special delivery" assistant) how to say Telefunken the other day...he says it with chutzpah!

D-getters are on the way in, and will cost a little more of course. I didn't know my source had them, and I double-taked big time and bought them all.

Keiko is going to demo these D-getters and give us a an extensive report. I know he has a Dared, but I am curious to hear about the whole system.

Man these (halo) are PRISTINE tubes. Some are Christmas tubes from December of 1960, weeks 3 and 4. Love how a 49 year old tube can make speakers howl out of the box.

I experimented a little today with rectifiers in the Dared. Per conversing with H9. I've been using a NOS (1960's I believe) Sylvania 5Y3. I swapped it out for awhile today with a NOS Sylvania 5V4. I immediately noticed a brighter tone with the 5V4 in place. Not a bad thing as I like a detailed image. After awhile though I started hearing a little bit of distortion/noise on some tracks. Anyway, I switched the 5Y3 back in place, replayed some of the tracks in question and things snapped back into focus. I don't notice any distortion with the 5Y3 rectifier. It sounds to my ears also that it adds a warmer, overall tone when used with the Dared & E180CC's. So, I'm sticking with the Sylvania 5Y3.

I've had my eyes open for a Mullard GZ32 ST shaped rectifier, but all I've found so far are simply too rich for my blood. If anyone has one that they want to offer up, then please give me a shout out.

Dang! A US seller could ship for $4.95 US Postal Service 2-3 Day Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation, and only about $2 more for Signature and maybe another $1 if he wants to insure. Where is he shipping from, the moon?

I can sympathize a litle because he is a large operation and no doubt has an account with UPS/Fedex and is "stuck", though that amount seems high for one tube insured even for UPS.

Problem is I get stuck too if someone wants tracking to Canada which is 6-8$ 1st Class, but is 18$ via USPS Priority. USPS is a good deal; some people can't stand using them, but they come to your house EVERY day anyway. I don't even have to schedule a pickup!
