They are Monitor 10's with Peerless tweeters.
Probally 10B's as they have the square cabinets as opposed to the beveled front edges. -
Monitor 10's with the peerless tweeters with fuse in the rear. Very nice. I have a pair in my garage rig and they sound great. $150 or less would be a nice price.
-
Why are you not wondering what they are as you drive over there? Local sale? The phone man. Drive over.

Waiting for him to get back to me and hopefully i can take a look
on sunday. He has them listed for $60.00.

$60 is a good price. I'd go for them.
The squared cabinets and the emblem being on the cabinet itself, rather than the grille, leads me to believe they're 10B's. They've got Peerless tweeters...very nice.
I pulled my SDA's out of my 2 channel rig a few days ago and hooked up my Monitor 7A's with Peerless tweets...some beautiful sounding speakers. The nirvana inducer-

I think they are 10A's but whatever they are $60 is a steal

I had also sent the seller an email-I'll yield to you though if you choose to get them. Let me know if you pass.

I got a return email--He said I could stop by anytime. Its at warehouse. He said that he has loads and load of stuff and sent me a link to his 110 active Craigslist listings (none of it audio related though) but that's only about 10% of the stuff that he needs to sell off. 1000's of items in a 9000 sq ft bldg.
I'm a bit confused--Are you going there to see if they are still avail? Or should I make plans to head up?
Let me know either way-I may head over anyway-who knows maybe there are other audio finds within all that stuff.
Thanks

Well this thread seems as good as any to continue...
OK, I finally got over there last night and picked these up. About 35 minutes for me via an empty PA Turnpike.
They look to be in decent shape-A little dusty, but the drivers appear in perfect shape-I noted nothing wrong with the grills-a couple scratches here and there on the cab-maybe some curling at the rear edges of the cabs but very presentable. -I did the passive push test--everything feels smooth and the seal is intact. I didn't get a chance to test them out with a source while on site.
This morning I hooked them up real quick before work and was disappointed that they sounded like they had no highs. So I put some Paper towel tubes up to each tweeter and listened through each--Aw crap, the tweeters are blown.
Then I realized they have fuses. So at least there's some hope --I had to go to work so the whole day I couldn't wait to get home and try some new fuses--Well one had a blown fuse and one was missing its fuse--I replaced both fuses and fired up the tunes--THEY WORK!!  and sound good too--Of course I only had 20 seconds to do a quick sound check before the wife found out I was playing with my audio stuff (Speakers she was none to happy I got in the first place) instead of giving the kids a bath...
Hard to believe the AD "Both speakers in in great working order" -if they were even tested at all---if a fuse was missing and the other was blown ??? Well maybe they thought they worked but didn'taccount for the quality of the sound. Who knows.
Anyway it seems that all drivers and tweeters are working fine. Have to go to a 'Back to School' night for my 1st grader right now--I'll do some more listening tonight. I'll also post some pics and report back on all the other stuff the seller has (if I can even remember).
To settle any debates, the label on the back says "10A".
By the way what is the proper fuse rating for these?____________________

Good deal the tweeters alone are worth $60. That saves $100 right of the bat in upgrades. You are $40 ahead of the ball game:)

Yeah, I'ma gonna deoxit all, and give them a good cleaning. For now I just used 3 amp fast blows until I get to the store--I just have to be sure I don't push'em.____________________

I stand corrected. They must be fairly late production 10A's. The earlier 10A's had a gray paper gasket around the MW's and PR, and the Polk Audio badge was located on the grille.
Do your cabinets have beveled edges on the front? It looks like it in the pic...can't tell for sure though.
Congrats!! The vintage Monitors are some excellent sounding speakers.
edit-For reference, here's a pic of some earlier 10A's.

I think I'll redo the XO and tweets on my SDA SRS 2's first--Just trying to get to know them still (I want to hear the improvements each upgrade makes).
I haven't really looked into all the SDS SRS 2 upgrade threads yet, but I'll likely go with the Sonicaps, unless something pushes me in another direction.____________________

VERY NICE score Madden....just as a reference, there are a pair of 10a's with the Masonite 'red' rings like in the link Curt posted, selling out here for $150...
Interest side note, one of my "7c" have the same style cabinet, with the Logo on the frame.
Enjoy -
The seller also had a whole bunch of audio related stuff--It was pretty tight and stuff all over, so it was difficult to move around and I did't have a pen and paper handy.
Here is what I recall (I don't recall the model #s in some cases) but I expect to go back tomorrow or Friday-nothing was new-mostly all older or vintage:
Snell Acoustics speakers
Ohm speakers
Yamaha Speakers
Adcom GFA-5802 (reportedly broken) (HEAVY and BIG)
Dual CS-5000 Turntable (Made in Germany-looks real nice)
Mission Electronics 700 series speakers
Yamaha TurnTable (maybe yp-350??)
and a whole bunch more. He told me he probably has another 40+ vintage TTs.
That's all I can think of right now-at least what I had an interest in.
Oh an a pair of Energy (?) C2's (I think, they were a dark (almost dark with hints of red) and glossy finish wood) but one driver felt frozen-I mean didn't move a bit
Bozak LS200a speakers ($45)
Mordaunt Short MS409W sub ($120)
He doesn't have everything priced yet either...____________________

The SRS2's have the same XO as the 1C's. Same values. Everything. I like sonicaps also. The bigger shunt caps are 20 and 40 uf. Sonicap only goes up to 33uf, but this is no problem. You can just paralel two 20's to get your 40uf. Also if you want to mount one of the caps on the bottom of the board you can use a 30, and a 10. I personally use Dayton's on the big caps. They are shunt caps, and the signal doesn't pass through them and go to the speaker. What passes through them goes to the ground. I have, and many others have been very satisfied with them. If you are going to keep them forever, or if you have the little voice in your head that would torment you if you didn't go with sonicaps then by all means go sonicaps for all of them. Also if you are going to do them I would seriously consider doing the 7's first even if you have to hold off a while. The 7's are much easier to work with. When doing the XO upgrades the two biggest pieces of advice I can give is do only one at a time, and don't cut the legs off the components till all the pieces have been fitted and soldered in place!. You may need to shuffle things around a bit to get them to fit. Again please do the 7's first especialy if you are going all sonicaps on the SRS 2's. There isn't a lot of room to play with on the SRS boards.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Thanks Ben, but I think you forgot that I did my LSi9 XO's based on your advice and I used Sonicaps. ;)
The Monitors are 10A's based on the label, but based on everybody's input based on cab design 10B's - could be a hybrid.____________________

I know enough to be dangerous and I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
now I just have to find the fundage--at least I don't have to hide the XO's like other audiogear purchases :rolleyes:____________________
