He is on his way to take my beloved SDA-SRS 1.2tl's to their new home.:( as most of you know that have followed my saga, this will be the second pair I have given up. This time they are at least going to a good home, and in their place will stand a pair of 2.3tl's that I have told the wife will not be going anywhere! I am always on the hunt for more SDA's and if a pair comes available that makes sense for me to go after logistically... well she already knows they will be coming home with me.;)

Joe, I know you will not see this for another 24 hours, but I just wanted you to know how grateful I am that they are going to someone that will treasure them as I do...

Thanks to him and all you guys for your support and advice.:)

That sucks. I've watched enviously as you put those together and in the end, skewered by the wife.......what a complete bummer.

I'm going to listen to some Maggies on Monday. There will be no consideration given to WAF/GFAF issues.

Keep the faith and get yourself a place to put whatever you want in it...LIFE IS SHORT.;)

I am certain having the 2'3's in their place will serve me well until another set comes my way. The 1.2tl's are spectacular to say the least, but part of their impact is the fact that the are so big as to have their own gravitational field. They will be missed to be certain but the 2.3's are no slouch either:)

I started this thread mostly to thank Joe for giving them a good home.

    I've had

You have nothing to worry about, the 2.3tl's are great also. My favorite so far in my small 16x14 basement man cave has to be the 3.1 tl's followed by the 1c's. In my 26 x 16 living room the 2.3tls and 1.2's definately sounded better with the more room I gave them. They just didn't blend real well in my small man cave. With that being said the biggest speakers doesn't always calculate to better sound.

    Enjoy the 2.3's

Oh great now there will be months of yapping about your new 2.3TL's :D

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Somehow I doubt that tough as I am getting ready to get Mcintosh to run the mains and a better AVR to handle the rest;)

I highly suggest you borrow a Mac amp and listen to it on your polks before you buy I think you will be amazed at how much better your Sunfire sounds with your Polks. I have discovered for myself that brand names and throwing $$ at finding an amp that I like does not necessarily equate to better sound. Just because something has great reviews and people love the name doesnt mean it will have synergy with your speakers.

The 2.3's look the same as the 1.2's when sitting there by themselves. Sure, there are a few inches difference but... :)

If I could I would... but tell me, where can you find a BETTER speaker for the money you spend for vintage SDA's?;) I would love to have a pair of Maggies...

I always hear this...and I don't understand it. There are dozens upon dozens of speakers in the same price range as the SDA's. I generally hear more praise for the "others" too, for that matter.

The only way you will ever know is to buy some and listen to them side by side. I have owned several models of JBL's big Klipsch horns Paradigms AR's Pioneer HPM's Advents etc and none so far are equal to or better than the SDA SRS 1.2TL's. Now im not saying there isnt better speakers available for in the $2500.00 range but I havent heard them yet. Part of what the Polks offer is the SDA effect which of course the others dont.
