RTi A7 speakers combined with TSi series rear, center and sub?
Hi there,
i am a absolute green horn in matters of audio systems. But since i love listening to music and watching movies, i have decided that it's time to buy some proper equipment that should last a few years.
Since i am living in China, it's a bit difficult to buy good eqipment at reasonable prices. Nevertheless, i can get Polk equipment at fair prices here, compared to other brands.
So, i have first been looking into following setup:
Front, TSi 500
Rear, TSi 200
Center, CS20
Sub, PSw 125
Receiver, Onkyo SX-TR607
This is the system offered by Polk at a reasonable price and obviously good quality. As i have been reading myself through tons of reviews and also asking friends which are more knowledgeable than me, i came to the conclusion that the there might be much better sound possible if adding a bit more money and get a set of 3-way front speakers.
i was looking into the RTi A7, since they seem to deliver more for only a bit higher investment.
I would like to hear from experienced Polk listeners if this setup would be a good match to listen from classic music to d&b as well as watching movies, preferably action (the more explosions the better:)). Let's say, i am watching 60% movies and 40% listening to music.
Thanks for your advise!

If you are considering the a7's over the tsi500's i'd say either upgrade to the a9's or downsize to the a5's.
Most feel the a7's lack the midrange needed as it has but a single midrange driver compared to the two on both the a5's and a9's.
I have a pair of a5's and they are really good budget speakers.
You can run them on a receiver if you wish but the bass really comes alive with a nice amp on them.Living Room Rig:D

Thanks a lot for the guidance!
I have been looking into the thing with the receiver. I agree it makes sense to spend 200 bucks more on a receiver if i can later add a amp. Not spending the money now, makes me spending another 600 dollars later for a new receiver if i want to add a amp. Thanks for the advice!
Regarding the speakers and subs:
I was checking out prices and specification of the Rti series and came to the conclusion that for adding only about 150 bucks, for the complete range of RTi A5 fronts, Rti A1 rears, CSi A4 and PSW125 sub, i will get higher quality built equipment. Am i correct?
The issue with the sub is, that i am not able to get the PSW505 here in China. Shipping it from the states just doesn't make any sense, since import taxes and shipping costs are too high. So, i am considering the DSW 500 or 600.
To be honest, the RTi A9's are a bit out of my budget range. I am sure that at some point, a couple years down the road, i will upgrade the system with better fronts. But, for the moment, i think the Rti A5's will do the job.
If any one of you has some further advise or tricks how to get a nice system in that price range below 2000 bucks for the 5.1 system, i would highly apreciate it.
Thanks. -
While your at it make sure you look over Polks ebay store. The link is at the top page it says Where To Buy just mouse over it and you will see a list. Click the official ebay store.
Check out prices there as you can get your gear for a much better price and you get Polks normal warrenty and everything. The gear is refurbished but ALOT of guys here on the board have bought gear this way, myself included and you can not tell the difference from the refurbished from the brand new. All look and function just like normal.
That should save you some cash i would think.
I also have the rtiA5's and they do a really nice job overall.
Edit:Forgot your in China......post doesn't help ya much sorry.Living Room Rig:D

Thanks for all of your advises!
I finally ordered my system as follows:
Front, RTi A5
Rear, RTi A1
Center, CSi A6
Sub, DSW pro 600
Receiver, Onkyo TX SR 806
I got a really good deal from the dealer here, i saved quite a fair amount compared to when i would have bought it in Hong Kong or even ordered it in the States. I am really looking forward to have it installed and i can't wait to see my neighbors angry faces when they knock at the door:cool:!
I will write a quick report once it's all up and running!
Cheers
