RTiA5's vs RTiA9's for HT but with a sub?

I was looking to upgrade the RTiA5's to the RTiA9's for the HT 75% music 25% setup.
But i have a sub and am currently looking to pick up a better one to replace the klipsch unit.
So my question is if i am running a sub in the setup how much if any improvement would be had upgrading to the 9's?
Will i get a large improvement or nominal since i have a sub?

The 5's and 9's use the same mids/tweeters don't they? Just wondering if it's worth upgrading them as well as getting a bigger amp to run them.
Thanks for you input.

i believe the A9s will have more "oomph" in the mids, above the crossover.

Just swapped out my A-7's for A-9's several months ago, and couldnt be more pleased. I run the Klipsch Sub-12 for HT, and it paired with the 9's shakes the neighborhood.:D Great sub for now, but planning on upgrading soon. For music, i cut the sub. The 9's deliver bigtime: Mids, lowend, clarity, dynamic range. They dont disappoint.:)

A5s with a good sub will be good on Music, although the A9s may be a lil better.
With HT the A9s should have a larger sound.

I'm really not too impressed by the stock LsiC to be honest. just my opinion...if you get it, you probably should mod it.

I'm going to memphis to get the ones Jerry had Ben mod for him that he sold to vmaxer. So they will be modded already. I am still looking for a center once i find one i'll have to get Ben to mod it for me. I doubt i will mod the lsi7's as they will be for surround use whenever i watch a movie on that setup. Which is like a 75/25 music/movie split.;)

Ya know i have had at least 7 people tell me the lsiC is not that great and i see it here and there on the board randomly. Should i get something else for the center channel? Maybe run a single lsi9 laid on it's side or something? Opinions?

I tried the LSi9's, but ended up with using two LSiC's.
Ensure that the LSiC's are pointed to the seating area.
I found the sound to be improved for me.
This is definitely the case where your ears should decide.

So you tried using a single lsi9 for a center but then opted for TWO lsiC as a center? What did you do put on on top the other? Any pics of the setup?

I may just need to make a new thread since this has nothing to do with the thread at hand.....

In my main room, I actually tried a single and then two LSi9's on their side with the tops together in the middle. It wasn't too bad at all. But I moved the LSi9's to a two channel setup.

Later, I tried two LSiC's togther. The pair together gave me the center volume without having to turn up the center relative to the surrounds. It looks better too in relation to the 50" Pioneer monitor. On my other LSi setup in the master bedroom, I went with a single CSiA6. It works for me as a center with the LSi's fronts and surrounds.

It is nice to have lots of speaker available to try different things.

In your case, why not go with a pair of RTIA9's and a CSiA6 up front?

Well i have a5's at the moment. I want to upgrade to a9's as fronts use the a5's for surround and i am getting a a6 for the center.

BUT, i am putting all that in my living room setup"getting rid of the vega stuff i have" and i am upgrading my bedroom setup with the LSI series. I already have some 7's for surround duty. Yesterday i met vmaxer in memphis and bought his 15's with modded crossovers"the ones Ben did for Jerry and he sold to Billy" So now i gotta get a center to match em lol.
Alot of upgrading going on this month.

Why not make the LSi system the main system in the livingroom first, and move the RTiA5's to the bedroom system?

Cause i spend more time in the bedroom lol. The kids dominate the living room haha.
Oh and right now the rti's are in the bedroom i just wanna swap em to the livingroom to retire my old vega gear and get a upgrade for my bedroom.

Also just grabbed a lsiC off the bay for 300shipped. Now to order upgrades lol.

Good deal. You will want to look out for a pair of LSiFX's now for the surrounds.
What are you using for an amp?

Well for now i'm going to stay 5.1 so i will use the lsi7's i have for surround duty.
The amp is going to be a Rotel RMB1095. Should be plenty of power for everything.
Power output is 200x5 at 8ohms and 330x5 at 4ohms.

That's a beast of an amp. I originally used a pair of LSi9's and LSi7's as side and rear surrounds, but moved them to a two channel setups after I replaced them with two pairs of LSi15 towers.

Theres another TD for the Saints.

Ya it should be enough without a doubt. I just hooked up the 15's in place of my rti's and for this week i am running them on a 1075 the 1095's little brother. 120@8ohm and 200@4ohm and they sound really good.
I also realize the lsi at high volume do a great job with bass even though alot say they lack in that department. I do know i will need an upgrade on the kilpsch sub i have as it doesn't make a big difference unless the volume is at average to lower levels.

Yes, get the 9's and make sure you feed them the power and cross them somewhere around 40hz if you can. If not, set them to large and let them play full range. 9's are the new RTi12's and as long as you feed them power you will be very very happy. I see you have similar rotel toys in your other system :-) Also, you may upgrade your 1095 if you do a lot of 2 channel. From what I was reading is they don't do near as well as the 1080 or the D-Class jobs for stereo. That's why I recently picked up a 1085 instead of the 1095 when used they cost close to the same. I wish they did because I love the beefy look of them compared to the D-Class multi channel amps. It would match my 1091's better...
