I must admit that this almost made me sick to watch -- given that the 1st generation Acura NSX (1991-1994 w/ 3.0, 5 speed, and fixed roof) is my absolute dream car. Then again, it just goes to show how useful a mid-engined layout can be.

Yeah, mid-engine can be useful until you see the water pouring out of the bottom of the doors as he drives away. That interior is destroyed. It's going to stink until he replaces the carpet and that can't be a cheap proposition.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Wow. On the one hand I'm impressed it survived mechanically, but it's sickening to think of the water damage done to the interior. And to what end? Just for a stupid youtube video?George Grand wrote: »

A couple of months ago I did something similar to my 94 civic. Huge thunderstorm, flooded road that looked to be about 6 inches deep, turned out to be about 2 feet deep. Car goes in, wheels go under,... headlights go under,... hood starts to disappear.....
Somehow, both me and the car made it out the other side with no damage. The car still runs fine, and the interior stayed nice and dry. The clutch and brakes were not real thrilled with me for the next 5 miles or so.
I think what saved me was I kept moving, which kept the engine compartment from completely flooding. If I had stopped, the air intake would have been under water instantly. Scary stuff. -
Sorry barefoot, slightly exotic, but not a supercar.
Nice handmade aluminum body, owing it's design shape to Lotus and Ferrari, but still just a Honda under the hood.
Still a nice car, and a stupid thing to do to it. -
With all due respect, I disagree. Also the term doesn't always mean the same thing to everyone. The line is blurred. But for me a supercar has to be a car with a very limited production, outrageous styling, a centrally located engine, a proven racing heritage, and near record breaking performance for its era.
The NSX delivered all that in spades.
Sure, it may have been designed by a common car company. But it wasn't a common car. The world just wasn't ready for a 170mph Honda that could beat other italian, german, and british marques at what they do best, and then put it all in a reliable, low-maintenance package that you could take to the grocery store. -

I agree with what you said. Top Gear did a piece on it and the only reason they refused to call it a supercar was is wasn't "ludicrous" enough... Which I guess has a grain of truth to it. Performance-wise, it is definitely in the supercar class, but the personality isn't quite unhinged in the way a big Lambo is. -
To you it's a supercar and thats really all that counts. However, its not a supercar, no where close.
