What to do?

Hello all! I am thinking on trading my mint sda 1c for rta-15tl. I love these sda 1c, they are amazing. However, I just got a non-common ground amp that I like a lot. The manf. of the amp, said this:" may be used as common ground amp if the two negative (black) terminals are strapped (connected using a piece of wire) together at the output of the amplifier". Any ideas? I really like the sda 1c's, but the guy I got the amp from said he had rta-15tl a while back, and he love the amp and the rta-15tl. What to do?
Thanks, Carlos

Strap the grounds...keep the 1Cs. You'll regret the trade.

    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B

I have a pair of each. And although I love my 15TL's, they do not compare to the SDA 1C's. I would not get rid of my 1C's. But that doesn't mean you could'nt still get a couple of 15TL's. :D

Rather than strapping the negative outputs, you may be able to use the AI-1 if your serial numbers are 5975 or greater left channel and 6001 or greater right channel.

Well, thanks all again. I did not get rid of my SDA 1C. I strapped the neg, and wow they sound great. I was having a ground loop problem also, and after putting a coax in-line suppressor all my issues went away. All, of my issues have been solved. I have to thank you all, because these are awesome speakers and I almost got rid of them this weekend, and all I needed was more power. I got a Conrad-Johnson CA200 really cheap. One of the radiologist I work for, sold it to me for 500 bucks. These babies came alive once I plugged this amp. As you all might be able to tell, had a great weekend. Now I am on a search for a pre-amp, I don't think my Adcom gfp-450 is well suited for this amp.

I don't think it is a tube amp. Also, I did not realized that it is an integrated amp, however I still hooked it up to my adcom not knowing any better.

Sorry about the disagreement but I have listened to both of them and I prefer the RTA 15TL. When I went to Tweeters many years ago -nineteen to be exact- with an specific goal in mind -to get a great pair of Polk Audio speakers- the sales guy and I spend about one hour and a half listening to these speakers.
Although the SDA 1Cs were more expensive and I had the cash to buy them, the sales guy and I agreed that the RTA 15TL sounded better. I still recall the sales guy complaining about the "boxy" sound coming from de SDAs.
Just the opinion of two guys crazy about sound, hi-fi, and good music.

they must not have been properly set up, underpowered, missing the interconnect, or something because the last thing I hear when listening to any of the SDA's is a box. Have you heard them in a proper environment and set up properly?

Listening to my SDA's today and I swear the sound stage was 18' wide by 8' tall. It was Dire straights' Brothers in arms. First song and then second song...

I'll bet the interconnect wasn't hooked up on that pair he heard.

I've owned the 15tl's also at the same time and also did a/b comparison sortof. I sold the 15tls, then let john hear the sda's. He went out and also bought a pr. of the big SDA's with in a few days.

That there tells you about the power of SDA land.:D(hooked up properly)
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
