My first time thrift store pick ups!

Hello all. I am new here but have been reading many boards to learn as much as possible. Well after reading all the finds that people were getting at yard sales, thrift stores and the Salvation Army, I had to try my luck for the first time. I walked away with 3 sets of speakers and paid $8.50 for each speaker! I picked up 2 sets of 2 way bookshelf speakers that sound incredibly crystal clear, they are a KLH set and a set I never heard of before called "Scott". The Scotts were like new, perfect shape, and VERY heavy for their size & were made in 1987. The Scott speakers were hard to believe they are 22 years old, they look like they just came out the box! The ones that really caught my eye were the larger REAL heavy ones. They were very very very dirty & sticky & gummy to the touch cause they must have been sitting in someones garage for a very long time. I did some research on them & they were made in like 1974-1976. They are called
"QuadraFlex Speakers". On the back it says they were a product of CBS. They have 2 dials to adjust sound on the back of them. Well I loaded them all up & took them home & the QuadraFlex ones cleaned up real nice!
I just gotta tighten up the cover on one of them. But I cannot tell you just how GOOD the QuadraFlex speakers sound, DAMM they are sweet. Unreal how good they sound! All speakers have no tears or anything wrong with them. Pics below for all to see. I found, a set of Pioneer cs-701 speakers and the Pioneeer round Omnidirectional speakers. The girl that sold them to me said her father had them since new back in early 70's. How did I do fellas on my first time out?

congrats on the nice finds... Just be warned that the SDA bug will bite you soon enough, and once it does there is no hope for recovery.

Start learning here. Unless you're REALLY getting them cheap, the only KLH usually worth purchasing only have one or two digit model #'s. Model 6, 17, 33.
The HH Scott? Never known for great speakers but maybe you got a little something nice in Scott's last gasp if they're only 22 years old. The Quadraflex? MAYBE, garage speakers.
You can pile up an awful lot of mediocre to bad speakers in a hurry if you let it happen. -
From what I remember, Quadraflex was Pacific Stereo's house brand. They were a well built, good quality speakers.Denon PMA-900V
