componet question

i have a JVC KD-SX780 head unit. ( i know its nothing but you have to start somewhere right lol) i was wondering if it would be safe to get a pair of componets to hook to it. the reason i want to do this is because my current speakers are mounted under teh dash and they point towards the floor. so when im listening to music weather it be metal or classical i can hear it if i pump it but even then i cant hear everything. I figure if i got teh tweeters up on the dash i would get a better sound stage vs the setup i have now. but i was wondering can my head unit power a set of componets. oh and i knwo this is also retarded but it would have to be a 4 inch componet system. can anybody suggest any brands if this is even a good idea. any help or suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated.

i dont really have time to look up any 4 inch speakers
but i can tell you that head unit alone wont be able to push any good speakers by itself
    youll need an amp
    go to www.crutchfield.com
enter in your car...etc...itll take you through the process and itll give you a list of speakers that will fit your car
also, what kind of car do you have?
itll help us give you better adivce if we know what were working with
and are you on a budget?
    how much?
    i hope i was a little help
im sure by tomorrow afternoon youll have more responses that will help you out more than i did

the best.. and i mean absolute best 4" component set i have ever heard (considered most suck a fatty) was the DX3045 Polk set. Polk made an EX II series set as well but i dont recall the model number.

you can find the EX II currently on ebay for like 65 bucks brand new never used in the original box (and its like way old so thats a shock).

I saw the DX 4" sets occasionally on there as well...

neither set is currently in production but if u call polk they MIGHT have the dx's kicking around... otherwise.. huntonline... it's worth the hunt.

in theory.. you could run them off the deck.. and in theory my aunt would be my uncle if she had a p****. :p

fact is.... u'd really best to get an amp... however... if i'm not wrong, that's one of JVC's better decks.. doing maybe like 30 x 4 rms ? or something in that ballpark range? if so... i THINK you can get away with running the EX II 4" comp sets as they are pretty efficient (around 90 db's)... i mean its not a great idea but fact is you're stuck having your darn speakers under the dash as it is which is a nightmare and you're just tryin to figure something out to give u the kind ofsound u can enjoy listening to. based on that... i really think u can get away with doin the EX II's.

ebay: look for DX3045 or EX II
i would call polks customer serive line to see if they have any around...but ebay is going to be MUCH cheaper
    as for the head unit
    head unit power SUCKS
19w rms sounds about right though
ur average 50x4 or 45x4 will put out circa 19-22w rms
but head unit power and amp power are way different
    hu pwr isnt constant
    and its not clean
if ur really looking to pwr them, get an amp
but i dunno what theyre ratings are
if the rms is above 35....go for the amp..if theyre not...u ll probably be ok...but happier with an amp
truthfully, the 4x6s in my truck cost me $100 and theyre run off the headunit
    they sound like ****
but im just too lazy to do something about it...
waiting for the polk momos to come out in the summer
    then ill add an amp
actually, now that i think about it, you might want to call polk and see if theyre coming out with 4in polk/momos
    might be worth the call
    those dx's are nice subs

polk dx3045 or ex 2540 or search "EX II" and hope it pops up...

here is a link to the EX's -- they auction ended, but at least u can see a picture of what they look like. i think they'll work a lot better for u than the dx -- 20 watts can push them sufficiently to sound good.

far as the subs... dx 10's were some of the nicest subs polk ever made -- i had two myself, in an 88 standard cab truck... like 3 yrs ago... with an mtx 500D .... that thing slammed 150 yards away.
