Deal or steal?

I picked up a couple items through craigslist today... I can't believe this sat on CL for over a week: a pair Von Schweikert VR-3's, Theta DS Pro Basic IIIA, White Audio Labs B1 and Carver CT-24. They were originally asking 1k but I got it down to $800. Now I know I got a good deal, the VR-3's and the Theta are worth more or as much as I paid by themselves, but I can't find out much info on one White Audio amp. It appears the company changed hands at some point (becoming Llano Design Group) and that company seems to no longer exist. The amp is built like a tank and has fully balanced inputs. Anyone with any info would be greatly appreciated.

I think this may have been a steal. The White Audio Labs amp sounds, well it doesn't sound is more like it, phenomenal. The smallest details appear seemingly out of nowhere on recording I've hear a thousand times. It lacks the bottom end thump that my 555II has, which seems more often than not to over emphasize the bass, but the bass response is much more precise. I still have no idea what the ratings of the amp are but it makes my Paradigms sing, showing how good of a speaker they really are. The Von Schweikerts are quite amazing as well, but have a completely different sound characteristic than the Paradigms. It will take some getting used to before I decide who stays and who goes.September2009018.jpgSeptember2009022.jpgSeptember2009024.jpgSeptember2009025.jpg

Is the 800 $ for all of it? The Vr-3's are fantastic sounding speakers

Yeah, $800 for everything. The VR-3's are really starting to grow on me. Very open and detailed sound. They dig quite low as well, not with much authority (could be room acoustics), but very detailed (again with detail). The biggest difference between my Studio Monitors and the VR-3's, is the SM's have a more "room filling sound" while the VR-3's have more subtle but life like feel. I still haven't decided who gets the boot yet, but someone has to go.

I've always been lacking in the pre-amp department. Now I'm seriously lacking there. I, for the time being must still wonder about the potential of my system and the impact of a good balanced pre-amp, as the money tree didn't fruit much this year.

Correct on the VR-3 its not your room. They disappear in the room vs knowing where everything is coming from kind of like vandersteen.

This thread was brought back from the grave. Sorry, the only information I found has been from three years of listening to the amp. There is no information available (that I was able to find) on the interwebs.
