Hi Users
i have bought a denon avr1708 reciver, a pair of polk audio monitor 60 series front speakers, psw110 sub & cs2 centre speaker for a 3.1 output.
However, i am unhappy with the sound quality. There is too much of a hissing sound. Moreover, the centre speaker seems to over-prevail the front speakers.
Yet to buy the rear & side speakers. Could any enlightened soul guide me??

Welcome to CP. Fill in some blanks and someone should be able to help.
Do you hear this in all speakers, even when there should be no sound?
Have you run the auto cal. (Audyssey)?
At what volume level are we talking about?
You can manually adjust/trim the center ch level down so it does not over power the rest.
You can run Audyssey again if you already ran it, and make sure that there is no background noise (pets/babies/lawnmowers etc.)
Could be something set wrong in the AVR read your manual. -
Another welcome to Club Polk. Between this forum and Polk customer service, we'll get ya fixed up.;)I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

I have a Denon too. To solve the overpowering CC problem, go under "Parameter" and set your "Center Width" to around 5 or so, that should solve that. I can't figure out the hissing problem though. Denon has a pretty good reputation for AVRs and wouldn't have something out there that would just hiss out of the box. Check your connections and make sure you're running a 14 or so gauge wire up-front.

Welcome to Club Polk!
I'd say take the recommended advice as Apphd suggested and get your speakers all setup. Next up is what is your source that you experience this "hiss" with? Do you experience it with multiple/all sources or just one? Are you using analog inputs/outputs but have your signal select on something else? Could be a multitude of things, even loose cables that are just barely making a connection. There are alot of Denon owners out here (me being one of them) and would be happy to help you out with your problem before having to call CS. Goodluck!Truck setup
