Hi

I just bought 4 Rti6s and 2 seem to have their tweeters malfunctioned. I'm not hearing anything coming out of the 2 tweeters (left front, left surround) while the other 2 work fine (right front, right surround).

Anyone knows what the tweeter model is and where I can find them?

Also the nuts that hold the grilles came off and I need to somehow re-glue them back on or get new ones. If I were to get new ones, where can I obtain them?

Thanks!

Contact Polk CS at the number at the top of this screen. They'll be able to help you out with everything you need.

One question, do the two speakers in question have the jumper bars in place between the two pairs of binding posts?

I'd imagine you'd be able to glue the post back in, assuming that you still have it. I'd see what Polk says though first.

oh god, you guys are right, the jumper bars were missing in the 2 speakers. stupid me. should've noticed that first thing lol. I can probably just replace that with a wire right? Is it gonna be better that way?

    Thanks!

So now I'm running 4 Rti6s and a Csi5. I put a 16AWG in place of the jumper bars (12awg was way too thick I could barely fit 1 in) and all tweeters are working now. Big difference.
Compared to the LSi system I had half a year ago, this system is short on the "bang" however that is reasonable due to the lack of subwoofer. I had an SVS PB-10 back then. I will be getting a sub in a month when I move to a new place. Possibly an MFW-15 *drool*

I'm satisfied with my new "downgraded" system for now.

But instead of running 2 Rti6s as the surrounds, would anyone chime in if a pair of Fxi3s would do a better job? Fxi3s would be less efficient and do not go as low but for the surround job, would they be better than the Rti6s?

    Jeez,

sounds like those speakers took a rough and tumble.

    Hope it all works out!

The seller sent me the jumpers through Express Overnight mail. I think the cost of shipping was more than they actually cost but everything is working perfectly well now. Thanks guys!

I use RTi6's for my surrounds, and they do a great job. The FXi's would do a better job though. If you're going to FXi's though, I'd suggest getting the FXi5's instead of the FXi3's. By moving to the 3's, you'd be getting a smaller mid-woofer, and you'd lose a lot of extra low end in the back sound field. The FXi5's will have roughly the same bass output as the RTi6's, which is decent given their design.

I would go for Fxi5s if I had the dough :D

Ok, curt, if you had a choice, which of the following you think would be better?

    a) 1 pair of Fxi5s
    b) 1 pair of Fxi3s and 1 pair of Rti4s (for 7.1)

Let say the room is big enough for 7.1 and I will have a very good sub to take care of low ends.

Personally, I'd go for just the FXi5's. IMO, having a better pair of surrounds in a 5.1 system is going to give bigger improvements than skimping on the speakers to go to 7.1.

You could always add another pair of FXi5's or a pair of RTi6's later on down the road too.

have you seen the FXiA6's on Polk eBay?
they are white, but maybe you are okay with that or...hmm have them painted?
I have seen them there in black from time to time...
