Do you have much work to do on the house before you move in?

none at all. Theres nothing about the house that needs to be fixed that cant be done while were there. And thats just minor things that the inspection picked up on...like seal the framing for the garage door to the brick, get the dryer vent to be flush against the house...that kind of crap.

It even comes with the blinds, towel holders...that stuff. The only thing we need is a cover of some sort for the glass door that leads outside from the master bedroom...but a sheet can do that temporarily.

In fact, I could use some ideas. Here's what I'm talking about:

The wife suggested roman shades, which i like the idea a lot, just dont know if we could screw that to the door or what...so if anyone has any ideas, let me know!

The make door curtains, that are tailored to fit. A bamboo or grass blind might add some texture, and look good if you have darker furniture. You could also do an artistic tapestry, which would open up all kinds of decor options.

whatever you choose, if you're like me, you want your privacy. personally, i'd roll with the 3/8"-1/2" cellular blinds from home depot or lowe's or just roll with white mini-mini blinds. on the cellulars you can even get them to "roll" to the bottom vs. to the top.

i think cellular blinds are basically the same concept as roman shades, just a different way of implementing it.

Here are some hideous roman shades, but you get the idea:

Congrats Cody, on the wedding and the new place. Sounds like it's all coming together for you guys. BTW, I don't recall seeing any wedding pics, maybe you could fix that, and of course pics of the new house too.

If this is a bedroom, you will likely want to have room darkening i.e. opaque treatments. That means regular blinds will not do the job. There are some Roman Shades that will. Blinds.com is a good place to shop - they send you free samples of the materials. I did my entire place with them and it was about 60% of the retail at HD or Lowe's. Another idea is to use cellular shades. They are very lightweight, which might be important depending on the quality of construction of the door. Costco sells a cellular shade in store from RediShade which can be cut at home. Once cut and installed, its indistinguishable from a custom cellular shade. Looks great and completely opaque. Plus it will only run you about $40. A custom premium Roman will likely run you about 5 times that.

where were you a week ago!?! haha. I'll def. let the wife know about that site, we might just hang a sheet over it for now, lol.

About to sign the papers in less than a hour!...then I have to work all day...haha
