Need advice

Hi polksters. Im new to forum--have been lurking for a little while as I have been a polk fan for a while.

Just had basement refinished and am in the process of setting up an HT system for the first time. Had wires run for a 5.1 system before drywall. The room is small (14 wide by 11 deep, 9 ft ceiling) with a built-in unit across the front. TV will be mounted on wall between two bookshelf units. Surround is in/on wall on side walls ~1 ft from rear wall which, is mostly open to another room

Looking for some advice on speakers...bookshelves would work best in front given the buitins. A friend has Tsi series towers and owm as rear and likes it alot. If we did Tsi 200 in front and CS20 (or cs10) center, would you use the owm on wall or perhaps use an in wall for the surrounds? (the other half likes the idea of in wall and out of the way) If in-wall for surrounds, which would make the best timbre match for tsi200?

Thanks

    Welcome to Club Polk!:)

Sounds like you're putting together a pretty nice HT setup there...what receiver are you planning on using with it?

First, I'd recommend going with the CS20 rather than the CS10. The center channel carries over 50% of a movies soundtrack, so it's a crucial speaker. You don't want to skimp out on it if you can help it.

The OWM series speakers would work well as surrounds with the TSi's, but I think the in-walls would be a better option personally. The RCi series in-walls are timbre matched to the TSi's, so that would be the best series to use.

Any of the three RCi models will work very well with the TSi fronts.

+1 on the suggestion for the CS20, you will not regret it over the CS10. Welcome to Club Polk.

Thanks for the input. Its taken awhile but have most of the speakers. Pulled on the Tsi 200 fronts RCi 65 rears and CS20 center. Still need a sub and considering the Denon 3310 for receiver...what do you think?

With the request of a friends wife I suggested TSI's for a Christmas gift. Since they are in the process of moving things around they asked me to hold on to them for a bit at my house. I was rather impressed with the sound. They haven't been fully "burned in" yet but I really do like the sounds. And for the rather modest price they would be hard to beat IMO. The in wall units look great if you have the extra time and $$$$$ to do them correct.
