Monitor 4

Hi all,

So, a few month ago I got a pair of Monitor 4 out of ebay. Now I have to replace a driver, an MW6500 (is that accurate?). I opened the speaker today to check the driver, everything looks to be stock.
Are there any upgrades that can be done to this speaker? I think the Tweeter is an SL1500, is this a good tweeter? I always see threads talking about the SL1000, SL2000, RDO and peerless, but never about the SL1500.

anyone selling a MW6500?

    My Monitor 4's have Peerless tweeters. I thought ALL Monitor 4's had Peerless (they pre-dated the Monitor 5's, Jr's, etc.).

    No...actually very few of the Monitor 4's have the Peerless tweeters. There are several different versions of it. Search the FM. I believe there are a few 6500's for sale there right now.

    Thanks, I was able to buy 2 of the MW6500.

    What upgrades can I do tho these? What is the upgrade tweeter? the SL2000?

    I don't believe there is an upgraded tweeter for the SL1500.

    You can still do crossover mods though.
