What should I go with in the 3000-4000$ range for a 1080p projector. My room will have no light at all in it, and I want a 150 inch screen.

> Resolution: 1080p native
> Contrast Ratio: 60000:1
> Dimensions: 18.1in W 5.1in H 11.6in D
> Weight: 16.1 lbs.
> Warranty: 1 Year P&L; 90 Days On Lamp
# > Key Features:
# Full-HD Optimized Lens Unit
# Full-HD LCD Panels
# Detail Clarity Processor 2
# Cinema Color Management

Have not compared specs to others, but I like mine (AEU900) even thou its only 1080i... -
+1 to that projector. I saw it in the store when I bought my significantly cheaper projector and it made me feel bad I was buying mine, ha.If I was going to upgrade I would go with this one:

Panasonic is ok, however if your budget is 3000-4000 then look at the JVC RS10. It will smoke the Panny any day of the week. Panny is also LCD projector which means it does not have sealed light path and they are notorious for dust blobs. JVC/Sony are based on LCOS and are sealed so I would definitely look into the RS10 or a Sony VW70. Panny just can't compare to black level of JVC. Even when at it's best the JVC will be brighter than the Panasonic.
However if you prefer LCD and brightness consider the Epson 6500. Best QC with the Epson as there are not many reports of dust blobs etc. The Panny is a decent PJ, however if you have the funds to splurge go for JVC. The best "CRT" digital PJ on the market. Someone mentioned the Pioneer, however it does not have the brightness to light up such a large screen unless you will be using a Hi-gain screen. Questions, ask.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I'm guessing now would be the time to put my JVC HD1 up for sale with everyone wanting to go to a projector and it's under $2000:DMoney Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!

Sherardo, where did you find the JVC DLA-RS10u for under $4000?
I looked at the projector site you linked in the other projector thread (>$2000) and that site has them for $4995....
http://www.projectorpeople.com/projectors/projdtls.asp?itemid=24623&itmname=JVC+DLA-RS10U
always good to keep ones eye open for good deals....although until Comcast broadcasts in 1080p, (1080i now) doesn't make much difference since I get 1080i already..
FYI: I have had my Pany for 5years (the AE900U) and I have never had a 'dust blob' issue...course I clean the dust filter at least once every week or two, when I am using it often. (easy 5 min deal)
Football season must be bringing out all the HT ideas....yeh
Good luck Bevo..either way a 150" 1080p screen will rock...
you won't want to leave...hehe -

I bought the JVC from AVS store from Jason with full calibration. The price was much lower than that ProjectorPeople has it listed for. Even on Audiogon/Videogon you should be able to find the RS10 under 3500. If the OP is wanting the JVC then I would suggest calling AVS or check those sites I mentioned.
Panny for 5 yrs then that's good. I can tell you now the 2000/3000U has not been as fortunate. Allot of reports of Blobs being seen right out of the box. So there has been QC issues as of late. Don't get me wrong, every manufacturer has there issues, but I personally would hate dust blobs. I maybe selling my JVC RS10 here shortly and upgrading right JVC releases its new line up. We shall see, and I do decide to sell it will be under 3K, it's calibrated and still has only 484 hrs on bulb.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I just picked up a JVC RS2 from Avsforum for $2100. This projector is awesome. The blacks on the JVC are actually black which provides exceptional depth to the picture quality.
