Hi

Currently own Rt800i with a CS400i for a center channel, my side rears are the FX500i and center rear's are the FXi50( upgrade from a fx300i).

I have come across another set of FXi50 almost for nothing. My Rt800i might be upgradeble at CC?? for the rti70 for about $200 more.

Should I just have all the FXi50 as my surround speakers and just leave the RT800i and CS400i as is, even thought they have different tweeters? If I go for the RTi70 then my center channel tweeters would not match or be timbre? that's another $420.

Has any one have the Fxi50 as surrounds and the RT800i as mains? if so how does it sound?

Thanks

    Ralph,

Do you use your speakers mostly for music or movies?

I have always been told (by salesmen) that the timbre matching is not that important from front to back. As in, its important for the fronts to match, but if the fronts do not match the surrounds and the backs, its no big deal. I usualy discuss how I want to upgrade, and I am always told that when I do so, a good idea may be just for me to move my R40's to the rear.

I could be way off though. Any and all are invited to disagree with me.

Perhaps I should sell the new fx50i. and keep my FX500i as my front surround so that it would match my front main speakers the rt800i (Same tweeter and bezel) and keep one set of FX50i as my rears, as I know have. Thinking about it , seems that it makes more sence to have the front 5 speakers exactly matched and anything as far as a rear surround speaker .
