These are the more desirable "brown-base" version. So hard to let go of these because they sound amazing. I bought these new from tubemonger.com for $225. Still available there at that price. They were new when I purchased them, matched pair. I don't have a tube tester, but the boxes and tubes are marked 1800-1750 and 1800-1850. I only used them for a very short period of time (MAYBE 10 hours...) in my Little Dot MKVI, but ultimately decided to keep a pair of Valvos and sell these. I just can't afford to keep both pairs :mad:

Well, I just learned a valuable lesson in tubes. I guess NOS have a very high premium attached. These are new on tubemonger for $225, but "lightly used for $110. These things depreciate by driving them off the lot even faster than cars! If they're only worth $110, then I'm keeping them...Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Right George, many tube sellers (mainly old school guys) seem to argue about "no such thing as NOS". Well of course, but we need a benchmark and tubes either test a bit hot or just under that benchmark when they appear to be truly new. Of course one just can't tell if a tube is truly NOS, only if it tests close (at, above, or just below) the benchmark given in the data sheets. Every day I test a tube that has no label and tests NOS.
I have tested tubes used for a year (high gain 6922) and they tested as new. Factories did burn-in. I have tested tubes that look brand new, MINT, and they test under NOS. I know a guy who bought 12AX7s direct from RCA in the 70s and they test at 900gm. They simply did not throw ANYTHING away. There is no point, imo, in retaining NOS term to denote tubes which are in a pretty box, with perfect labels, and test "as new". I use the term to reflect how close to the benchmark the tube test; it is the electrical performance and resulting subjective impression we are interested in after all. There is nothing wrong with a seller reporting the aesthetic quality of the tube as many appear to be interested in this as well.

with life into the thousands and thousands of hours I never put much stock in paying hundreds extra for new old stock I have had far too many enjoyable hours with "used" tubes and great listening to be bothered about such things. Now sure if I can get NOS for a reasonable cost I go for it.

Bottom line is, as long as there are "lightly used" on the market at half off, I can't in good faith sell these as NOS considering I have used them a bit. I'm not going to lie and say I never tried them, in which case, they're lightly used. So if these are only worth $110, as opposed to close to $200 (a figure I arrived at simply by giving a bit of a discount from what I paid), then no sense in selling it. I couldn't justify keeping these if they were worth $200. But for $100, I'll enjoy these for a long, long time.
