I have a question about shipping something to Hong Kong. I just did a quote on fedex and the price that came up seemed a little high I have never shipped anything overseas. The weight of the package is 40 lbs and the quote came back at $320 I just think that dosent seem right anyone with experience please let me know if there is another way to ship that might be a little cheaper. I am not paying the shipping but I would hate for the deal to fall apart beacuse of this, I am sure the buyer is aware of this but you never know.

Thanks
Mark

I have shipped allot of items to Japan using both USPS ( postal service) and also using other carriers. Of all those I used I would suggest you check out BAX Global as they offer very cheap rates. If for some reason they can't come thru (their services vary), then check out FEDEX Frieght or UPS Frieght as they offer better rates than their normal stuff. I paid 112$ for my Carada screen (arrived in 5 days) using FEDEX Freight so they do have decent pricing.

DHL maybe able to offer you a good rate but I highly doubt. Even at my corporate rate they still very expensive. So I personally stay away from them when I'm shipping items. So definitely worth a look in those mentioned with BAX at the top as they can probably get it there within a week and at a decent rate.

Was the FedEx rate for International Priority Service (IP)? If so, they offer other, lower priority services that will be cheaper.

If you go the USPS route via "airmail", there is a good chance it will end up on a FedEx aircraft (which is a good thing)...

I have to ship a package to Austrailia and was planning on using USPS. Is this not a good idea? The package only weighs a couple of pounds.

FedEx Express will get it there quicker and is more reliable, but you pay for that.

As far as the USPS goes, alot of their packages for whatever "air" or "express" services they offer for International shipping will actually get loaded on a FedEx Express aircraft at some point due the USPS doesn't not own their own aircraft. I believe the USPS may have contracts with other airlines also, but FedEx carries the most USPS traffic. I said this is a good thing due the FedEx air network is the quickest and most reliable for Int'l. I also like to plug their service due they put food on my table.

All good info Kevhed, I definitely would like to know what would be the rest route to ship some speakers to Japan. Your thoughts since their maybe a cheaper service to what I've been using in the past?

How quickly would you need them in Japan? Drop me a PM with that info., along with DIMs (dimensions) of boxes, weight, City and Postal code for the destination. Also, how much would you like them insure for. PM me...I'm back in office tomorrow. thx
