Is there a big difference between car subwoofers and home theater subs?
Looking for a good DIY sub.
Thanks

I've read this across many other forums and have seen several people having success using car subwoofers for their setup. I thought about it too seeing how a DIY usually if not always comes out cheaper than buying one already setup. Well, in other peoples experience, it worked out great for home theater but proved to be horrible for music. Those car subs they used were just way 'boomy', not fast or accurate like they'd like them to be.
Got extra car subs lying around? Id say sell'em and buy a driver onlineTruck setup

Got two MTX9500 big boys I had in my truck but looking at the big boy Orion HCCA 15.4's. I'm wanting to try something for HT only as my sda's don't need anymore low end for 2 channel.
Just wanted to try something out as I had a couple amps just sitting in the closet collecting dust and I also have a Polk audio micro pro amp plate. It's rated 1200 watts rms 2400 peak. -
been a long time since I was into car audio, but from what I remember amps, speeker boxes, ect. were usually 4 ohm and not all that compatible with home audio gear.panasonic th-50pz85u

Oh man, Im actually looking for an amp/plate amp but trying to keep it cheap. Got anything I can pick up pushing 200-400watts @4ohms?superjunior wrote: »been a long time since I was into car audio, but from what I remember amps, speeker boxes, ect. were usually 4 ohm and not all that compatible with home audio gear.
Most home subs/drivers are all 4ohms, I've put 2 together before and they were 4ohms and so is the HSU driver I'm using for my next project.Truck setup

Only amp plate I have is the Polk mp4k. I have two Adcom 555II that can be bridged.
Don't know what difference there is between a amp plate and a regular home amp like my 555. -
Plateamps are generally less efficient, but cheaper. Any other bridgeable amps you got laying around?
If not, I've been looking at either O-audio bash plateamps or parts-express amps.Truck setup
