I have never seen a pair of Studio version 1b's. They very well could be Studio version 1c's??

Yeah, they do, but the owner said he's had them for 25 years which would put them in 1B territory. The pics are dark, maybe they aren't 1C studios.

I resisted the urge as long as possible. And I don't know how I am gonna explain another pair of speakers to the wife, but they have found themsleves a home. Not sure if these are 1C's or not. Guy was the original owner with original manual and interconnect cable. Little bit of cosmetic damage, mainly some scuffs on the base of one of the speaker cabinets. Difinetly look like Studio model 1C's but the manual clearly states 1B.
The cabinets only have the SDA 1 designation on the back.

Pop a driver, if it's a 6509 it's a 1B, if it's a 6511(inside) or 6510(outside) then they are studios. If they are 1Bs they are 4 ohm.

The guy who sold them to me said that another quote "Polk nut" came by a couple of days earlier and bought the NAD amp and parasound pre-amp. Said he would have taken them but he already has 20 pairs at home. My good fortune. And proud to be another "Polk Nut". Told me that if he couldn't sell them before he moved out of the country he was gonna give them away to someone who could give his cat a good home.:eek:
Anyhow next need to find some good muscle to make these 1C's really sing.
Gonna have to wait a little since these are the fourth pair of vintage polk's I've bought in the last 3 months.:cool: Lookin either to get Adcom or Carver amp/pre-amp set-up. Christmas is just around the corner.:p
