bi amping question

Thinking of using a pair of Adcom 545s' at 100 w per instead of one 555 at 200 w per.
I know you would hook up the left speaker terminals of the amp to the upper and lower connections to the speakers and the same with the right connections. I am using the preouts from a receiver, so the question would be how to hook up the inputs from the each of the amps. Would I just use a y connector from each left and right and send it to the preouts.
The amps will be used for my 2.3tls', by biamping I think I would get more out of (2) 100 watt amps than just (1) 200 watt amps. Would I be correct?
Thanks,
Joe

There are a lot of "depends" in there, but you won't know until you try it in your system....TNRabbit

Isn't the point of bi-amping to use an OUTBOARD crossover? One amp gets the low-frequency signal, one amp gets the high-frequency signal?
Sounds to me like you're doing something akin to bi-WIRING; which in my opinion is a complete waste of time, money, effort, and enthusiasm.
First Guess: You're going to lose ultimate volume potential by reducing the amp power.
Second Guess: You're not likely to use the ultimate volume potential anyway. -
If I had to choose I would go with one larger amp over two smaller amps. I just feel that at lower volume you will get better sound because the single larger amp has more power in reserve. I think it will be a push at high volumes.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t
