Don't know seller (has 33 positive, but 1 negative), but seems like fair price for hard to find used Pioneer VSX-1018AH-X: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=11333

Seems like a decent price. I might get it if someone can confirm it has preouts. Looks like it does from the specs. I missed on Marantz AV8003 on Ebay last night so this might hold me over until I find a good prepro, after that, bedroom...

Thanks. I also confirmed that with the seller and I sent him PayPal already. I will move my AVR7200 into multizone duty and pair this with a Sherbourn amp.

olilugo, I would assume a Pioneer to have a neutral, slightly warm sound? I want to keep it on the warm side if possible, one of the biggest reasons I didn't want to move from HK to Denon or Onkyo.

I couldn't find a 1018 earlier in the year, so I bought a Pioneer VSX-919AH-K to go with my Hsu HB-1 mk. 2.

I also own a Pioneer BDP-51, and connected via HDMI, I would describe the sound very, very clear sounding (squeaky clean too (perhaps too squeaky clan?), when I use my Wireworld Ultra Violet HDMI cable between player and avr).

I also think my system would sound better with a little warmth added, so I am thinking about picking up some Cardas Crosslink speaker cable (I own Crosslink interconnects, but no speaker wire yet, but I suspect it will do the trick).

Polk obviously has a different house sound than Hsu, but it might also work for you.

I would just get the AVR, hook up with generic stranded copper wire as a baseline, and then see what you still feel is missing. Others on this forum probably have Pioneer running with Polk, so that stranded copper speaker wire might provide a good baseline for others to recommend specific speaker wire or interconnects that will achieve what you want in your system.

Yes, he said he's shipping it on Monday. I will do a full A/B against my HK and decide where it goes.
