A few short of a six pack

Unbelievable!
Last month, the country was horrified when a three-day old baby in Kentucky was snatched from his crib by the family's pet dog -- a four year-old wolf-dog hybrid named Dakota. The canine was seen in the family's backyard holding baby A.J. in her mouth "like a loaf of bread," reported WLKY News.

Though he suffered a skull fracture, collapsed lungs, broken ribs, contusions and cuts, A.J. is recovering fully at his parents' house. Shortly after the incident, the baby's father, Michael Smith, told Good Morning America that while he harbored no ill feelings toward Dakota, who is staying at the Jessamine County SAVE Center, he said "there's no way she can come back in the house."

This week, though, it seems Smith has had a change of heart (and possibly, sanity). The Lexington-Herald reports that Smith now wants Dakota back at home with the family. It is a move opposed by both local authorities and the Jessamine County SAVE Center, which want Dakota to go to an animal sanctuary.

"I cannot imagine what the father is thinking," Sarah Wilson, a dog expert and trainer with 23 years of experience, told Paw Nation. "You do not bring an animal into your home who -- for whatever reason – almost killed your child."
Political Correctness'.........defined

"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."

Seriously, I'm not one to usually "blame the animal" for being an animal, but that doesn't mean inviting it back into your HOUSE after it attacks your kids! What a dolt.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

There wouldn't of been a continuing problem with the wolf/dog if that would of happened in my sphere of influence.

Yeah, I love me some animals. Really I do. But there is no internal debate whatsoever as what I would do.

Of course, I have better sense than have a wolf/dog hybrid around a child. I have known several and NONE of them were predictable.

The guy would be in the pokie in GA. for breeding wolves plus child endangerment. He wouldn't be a "hero" on GMA.

Very surprised local authorities didnt order the animal destroyed in light of the severity of the attack, and then to stand by and possibly allow the owner to take possession of said pet, is insanity on a staggering level. Sounds like everyone is "A few short of a six-pack"! Lightman, whats your take on this?:p:D

The facts are that Dakota was a much loved family pet. She was a "Native American Indian" type dog - a form of husky. She picked the baby up in her mouth and carried her outside. Certainly not a "vicious attack" from the dogs perspective, granted the 4 day old baby would certainly disagree. I don't understand the hysteria regarding this story. Chris :eek:

The facts are that when animals try to "carry" humans as you put it, we always loose. Ask Sigfreid & Roy on that point. The dog should be put down.

I don't give a rat's **** if it was my wife that did it. Fact is that if anything did this to a newborn of mine, that would be the last time that it/she/he would EVER have that chance again......provided the damn thing was still alive after I got my hands on it.

Best wishes for the kid and may the lord above smack some sense into the father before something else happens to that poor child.

Actually we have more sense than that, you wont find wolf breeds on reservations in the states or in husky mixes in villages in Canada or alaska. Having wolves or half wolves as pets for NDN's is a myth started by idiots. We also dont keep rattlesnakes grizzly bears or mountain lions for pets either for obvious reasons in case you believed this too.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

If my dog did that to my kid it would have a .22 lead injection with very little hesitation...
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

+1 I find it hard to believe that the dog wasn't put down after that.

You must not have taken the time to read the story huh? The child was harmed quite a bit...go back and actually read the story instead of skimming the first few sentences, and you'll see that.
