RT2000i

Hello All! New to the forum and looking forward to jumping in.
I have a dilemma. I found a pair of RT2000i's that are in nice shape (no major nicks, grills in great condition). However, the mid/woofer in one of the cabinets is not operating. I was able to remove the driver and diagnosed it as being a burned out crossover. The driver does play when hooked up direct to the amp. Polk has the crossover in stock. No big deal, just replace the crossover and all is good.
Maybe.....
Now, I'm starting to wonder if I should walk away, or if I should take the deal ($400 for the pair) and hope that all is well for the future. The speakers sound like all is in good order other than the driver that is not functioning. Any thoughts on how to proceed?
Thanks,
Bryan

The crossover is $48 for Club Polk members.
Please share, how much less did you score the 2000p's for?RT2000i - Front

I picked them up last night. They are in fantastic condition. The new crossover will be here in a few days (thanks Polk!). Once that is in, I will be set.
I did notice that when I push in near the center of one of the 8" drivers I can feel a very slight rub. If I push in dead-center on the dust cap it is very smooth/linear. I only feel the rub if I push in anywhere off-center. However, if I push toward the bottom of the driver it will not move in more than a few millimeters. I played this speaker solo with just the bass section running and neither woofer made unusual sounds or distorted even at high volume. It is almost as if the cone was set slightly off-center within the magnet/voice coil gap when originally manufactured. Has anyone else experienced this with their Polks?
Today on eBay I picked up a reconditioned CSi5 from polkdirect at a very nice price (also has a 2 year warranty). All I need is a set of surrounds.
Now, it's time to start upgrading the electronics. I have a Denon AVR3000 that is nice for 2 channel, but I need to get with the times (Blu-ray DD HD, DTS Master Audio) as it only decodes Dolby Surround.RT2000i - Front

That's normal for most speakers.
I was a little surprised by this since the other three 8" drivers did not exhibit this behavior. However, if all sounds proper when playing, I will not get worried.
I am very anal retentive when it comes to my stuff so I am, most likely, being too critical. I'll shut up now and enjoy them.:DRT2000i - Front

I have a Minty pair of 2000i`s , and I understand being anal about your gear.
I do not believe that you will have any issues with the "slight rub" of the 8" sub....if you do, it is probably a cheap fix, as I think you got a great deal on them to start with.
Did you get the black or the cherry versions ?

It looks like they are the cherry version. However, I could swear that one of them is much closer to a maple tint when I see them side-by-side.
I am located in a suburb of Cincinnati, OH, called Harrison. It's right at the Ohio/Indiana border along I-74.RT2000i - Front
