I'm using monoprice bananas in my HT system. I got them when they were on sale for $0.96 a pair. It doesn't get much cheaper than that.

I've heard a couple mention that they degrade sound quality...but I've never had any issues with them.

For a bit more money, look at the GLS Locking bananas. I'm using them for my 2 channel rig.

Why but cheap anything? Cheap is not good. Affordable is a better way of saying what you are looking for.

    +1

I think I've read lately (on this forum)that monoprice bananas weren't that great. I have no experience with them however. GFA locking plugs are great for the money though!

The Monoprice bananas aren't anything special...but I don't see anything wrong with them. They do what they're supposed to do. You get what you pay for...if you want better bananas, it's going to cost more.

I got a bunch of them from Altex. Not sure if they are everywhere, but I think their website will have a shipping option if they are not local.

    I little pricey, but solid.

Yeah, the mono's are priced VERY reasonably! Like I said, I have no experience with these nanners, so I can't personally comment good or bad. I went and looked it up, and it was Face that said he had noticed a not so good difference in sound quality between bare wire and the plugs. For the price though, it cant hurt to try them.

One minor thing that I've noticed with the Monoprice bananas...

My HT system and 2 channel rig are both in the same spot, and at any given time, I only have one pair of speakers in the front sound stage. Lately it's been the SDA 2A's.

Because of that, I have to swap speaker cables around a lot. When I want to watch a DVD, I've gotta hook the speakers up to my AVR and when I want to listen to music I've gotta hook them up to my amp. I've noticed a few times that the actual banana plug tip has started unscrewing a little bit. This is most likely just due to the fact that I'm swapping them around a lot.

So, if you swap them around a lot, keep your eye on them. If you plug them in and leave them though, I can't imagine having this issue.
