Ok this is totally useless post. but what the hell, it's Saturday and i'm more or less bored already and it's only 10am.

Yesterday I got cable internet service to my casa de Al. Wow. this stuff is wonderful. I can't believe how fast I can find and download **** now. Just kidding.

For anyone who is tired of their slow dial up connection.. check into cable service. it's not cheap by any means.. it's like $55 a month compared to around $15 t0 $24 for dial up. Guess break neck speed ain't cheap huh?

have a good weekend guys. I 'm done posting for today. Got to watch the Ring tonight. I hear it's a good flick.

I've had high speed broadband cable for about 8 months. I love it! I've had very little problem with it. Just a few minor ones that I was able to fix myself.

    Go here: www.toast.net

Check out the free performance tests. It tests your download speeds.

We have DSL. 50 times faster for twice the price - damn good price/performance ratio if you ask me.

Spokane:confused: Well, everyone else in this thread has cable so I'll assume you're talking to me. Spokane? I live in P.A. ~$40 here. We used to have dial up and a second phone line so we are actually saving money.

That toast.net site is awesome, and apparently so is my DSL in Pullman. According to toast, my DSL outperformed a T1 line. Take that T1!

I've had a cable modem for about two and a half years. Won't go back....

Here in Phoenix, the cable service is $40 a month. Are you renting the modem Danger?

For those renting their cable modem, check Best Buy for the ugly Motorola Surfmodems.

I got mine for $100. It came with an $80 rebate if you sent in proof that you're a new cable modem subscriber!

Last time I was in there, they had the modem for $100 with a $100 rebate for new subscribers. Why in the world would anyone rent a modem? The funny thing was that there was no specific cable modem companies required to get the rebate. I wonder how they are getting their money back? Maybe it's just for us Savannans (Comcast may be sponsoring the offer)... although I still find that one hard to believe. Comcast loses $7/month from us not paying rent on a cable modem.

this is only my third day with the cable service. yeah i am renting the modem from comcast.. i may not do that much longer though. comcast wasn't offering any "deals" this time. my friend who lives three blocks away.. got this same service with three free months. UGH! What gives?

Is the cable service capable of faster download speeds, or are we primed at the fastest speed we can get. don't get me wrong..it's blazing fast.. but does the modem or ethernet card have limits as to how fast it can download. i read somewhere that there is a modem that is not limited to 100Mbps, it can reach speeds of 200Mbps. is such a modem worth it or does it even matter?

Just signed up for a new apartment today. It has a T1 line that it shares with no one else. $45 for me and my two roommates. Total. We are very very impressed and happy. What a deal. Better than cable and we don't have to pay for the phone either.

why is my cable service more expensive than everyone elses? mine is like $55 per month.. if I buy my own modem. it only knocks $3 off the monthly service. it's a scam i tell ya. :p
