Someone may have already mentioned this before, but.... I've seen speakers on CL in one county, and then the exact same speakers for sale in another county with a different price. I know something is fishy, but I'm not sure what it is. Any ideas? Just curious:confused:

Are you saying the same kind of speakers...or the exact same pair of speakers?

Sounds like some white van speakers. I'd stay away.

The part that gets me is that it is the EXACT same picture in the same house with the same date etc., but in a different location?

It could be that people are too lazy to take their own pictures, so they are using a "stock" photo. Or it could be a scam of some sort, I suppose. But with CL you generally purchase in person, so not sure what the scam could be...

There is a possibility that someone just stole the picture from someone else.

I once saw an ad on ebay for a pair of Monitor 5Jr+'s, and when I looked at the picture, I realized that it was a picture of MY speakers. In MY room...you could even see MY cat in the background...lol

The funniest part was that my speakers aren't even 5Jr+...they're Monitor 7A's.

You'd think the guy would have noticed they difference between them...but I guess not...lol

Some people live in one area and work in another, so they post in both to double their chances of selling their stuff.

I usually sell out of Chicago and Milwaukee and usually charge more for selling in Chicago cuz I have to drive an hour to get there.

I emailed a guy about a local listing of a PS3 once and when he emailed me back he said he was in Bosnia on business and he would send the unit to DHL who would hold it until I sent him payment and then they would release it. YEAH RIGHT!! Could be something similar to that, a fool and his money are soon parted as they say.

Let me guess, the email went something like this:

"Good day my audio friend. Glad hear to you interested in my Sony PS3 game system unit and I like very much to sell to you. Unfortunately, need ur help with DHL shipping, du live I in Bosnia but DHL hold Sony for me. Email me please your credit card number or provide checking account number so i can authorize DHL to ship Sony game unit to you..."

Actually, I think this has to do with the "regions" that CL sets up. I live in basically the intersection of the Indianapolis/Bloomington/Evansville/Louisville region and to advertise it the best, you do all 4 of those areas. You can't have an identical ad in each so you have to change it around. Most of the guys here post in at least 3 of the 4 when they are selling something.
