Ok....so the onkyo 606 has 90wpc........the 806 has 130wpc...

I have the 606 and id I have it set at 60 volume....and then buy the 806 and have it set at the same exact volume 60....is it gonna be louder cause of the extra 40 watts or just more clear clean sound??

The volume number setting is meaningless. You need to have an SPL meter and set each amp to produce the same sound pressure level. All things being equal, the higher powered amp should be clearer than the lower powered amp at the same SPL.

Don't get rid of one AVR and purchase another one to gain amp power.... If you want a more powerful amplifier, get an external amp. Buy another reciver for a differnet sound (if I differnet brand), different features (pre-outs come to mind) or a better interface.

Any AVR (almost) over about 80 watts will have really close to the same max volume as any other.

    Just my opinon on it...

Well in this case he has to get a new receiver in order to get the preouts he needs for separate amplification.

The 706 would have everything you need (preouts) and be a bit cheaper than the 806.

Agreed the 806 or the 706 would be a nice update, only due to have pre amp outputs. These pre amp outputs would be needed to update your system again in the future.

This receiver has 4 HDMI inputs and 1080p upscaling along with 7.1 audio preouts. I think the only difference with the 806 is less power, 100w per channel. Its a good option if you are looking at an external amp.

Take the extra $250 and buy an amp and your set.

I did hear a difference when I moved from my 605 to my 875 (140 wpc). Many believe the 806 is a great bargain. If you're budget constrained, I'd go for the 806 and hold off on the amp. While you will probably want a separate amp in the future, your speakers will like the additional power in the meantime. Having a powerful receiver is a nice back-up, even if you get one (or more) amps.

It wasn't that you need an amp today, but are able to add an amp later if you wished too. Buying an AVR today with pre amp outputs saves you cash later. :)
