Well, tomorrow is the day that my son John (14) and I leave for Edmonton Alberta to see AC/DC in Commonwealth stadium. We'll be doing a tour of the Rockies again and then over to Drumheller which is in the middle of the Alberta badlands and is famous for one of the world's largest dinosaur fossil deposits. It's supposed to be pretty cool. Then over to Calgary for a day and then up to Edmonton for the big concert. Then back through the Rockies to visit a friend in the Kootney area of British Columbia near the US-Canada border and then home. 11 days altogether. It's freaking hot here again and we are travelling with truck and camper but the trucks got air conditioning so it should be nice. Tomorrow afternoon we will be travelling very close to Mt. Robson which is Canada's highest point. Never seen it but people say it's spectacular.
Anyway try not to burn down the house. I'll give a concert review when I get back. Rock on!!!!

You are in for a treat, I caught the show this last December in Oakland.
I was exactly your boys age when I saw them for the first time at a Day on the Green. The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -
Ok, last night was the AC/DC concert in Edmonton Alberta Canada. It was in an open stadium and the night started out quite nice about 80 degrees fahrenheit with some light cloud cover. Just before the first act there was a flyover by the Canadian Air Force Snowbirds (Canada's Blue Angels) and two big military helicopters. Very cool. The warmup band The Answer from Dublin Ireland was really good. A blend of AC/DC hard driving rock with a bit of Zeppelin thrown in. After a 20 minute break AC/DC takes the stage with Runaway Train from the new album and almost as soon it starts to rain. Ok, no problem, a little rain won't anything. Then as if on cue durring Thunderstruck the skys open up and the rain pours down in torrents. Thunder and lightning light up the stadium and the boys play on!!! It was almost freaky weird. It flashed and boomed and poured rain for almost the whole show and Angus and Brian and the band just kept on performing for all they were worth. Soaked to the bone and playing in the rain!!! What a show. The only delay was a couple of times the roadies had to squeejee the stage because water was building up in huge puddles.
They played all the good stuff from She's Got the Jack to Whole Lotta Rosie to Back in Black etc etc. Over two hours in the middle of a northern Canadian prairie thunderstorm. Then as they were playing the second encore (For Those About To Rock) the rain and lightning stopped. It was there only for the duration of AC/DC on stage and then it was gone. Surreal is the only word. Angus even did his trademark "Let There Be Rock" on the elevated stage at the end of the long runway while the rain fell in sheets. With the spotlights on him it looked totally awesome!! A concert to remember indeed, even though my son and I were completely soaked afterward. Everything I expected and more. And an A+ to the band for giving there full best durring obviously adverse conditions.SDA-1C (full mods)
