What do some of you think aboout the RTA15. Speakers? I bought a pair in 1992. Finaly blew SL3000 tweeter. Polk is telling me that they do not manufacture the SL3000 tweeter any more. But they do offer a simaler version of that tweeter. Have any of you replaced the SL3000 with this newer tweeter? I ordered one from polk today. I hope it performes as well as the SL3000 did. These speakers in my book, do pass the hands of time.

Welcome to Club Polk!
Did you get the model of the new tweeter you purchased for your replacement? I expect you'll hear a difference so your best option is to find one used, or replace all tweeters with the same type and same condition (if all new, break them in at the same time). Anyway goodluck with your RTA's, bet others will chime in with their thoughts and adviceTruck setup

you should replace both, after they break in they sound much better than the 3000 IMO

What they said, replace both with the RD0198-1.Political Correctness'.........defined

Paul J Aragon,
First off, welcome to the Forum.
Secondly several months ago I had to replace one of my tweeters in my RTA15TL's, and yes I had to use the "newer-improved" version of the SL3000.(RDO198-1) I did replace both tweeters as well, and I highly recommended that you do the same, as others here have so expertly stated.
Other than that, I hope that you will continue to enjoy your RTA15TL's as I do with mine.
Happy Listening Paul J Aragon.

Greetings. This thread is very helpful and made me decide to join this forum and post
I have a set of 15TL's that I bought new back in something like 1988 and just experienced my first problem with them which is a blown Tweeter
Guess I learned the solution to the problem and will be ordering two as well, unless Paul wants to sell me his working one once he orders the 2nd replacement -
Another +1 on replacing both tweeters.;) I've found that pairs of speakers sound the best when they have the same drivers and not a random mish mosh of different drivers...lol
