Keeping the world safe from rogue kids and their illegal operations.

Probably turned her over to the IRS as well.

It's good to see that our govt is protecting us from these lawbreakers...just like the kid in CA that was on the brink of causing major traffic congestion...
Girl, 10, Fined $50 For Lemonade Stand At NY ParkNEW YORK (CBS)

It's a summertime tradition for kids everywhere - setting up a lemonade stand and hoping to make a few bucks off of thirst passersby.

That is, unless you do it on city park property - as did one little girl who was ticketed for trying to serve up summer refreshment.

To 10-year-old Clementine Lee, setting up a lemonade stand at Riverside Park on a hot Saturday afternoon seemed like a fun way to make money.

Instead, she and her dad got slapped with a $50 fine.

"I was kind of nervous, and I also really felt bad because I didn't know I was doing something against the law," Clementine said.

She and her father, Richard Lee, had only been selling lemonade and cookies for about 15 minutes when three Parks Department agents approached them.

"One of them looked at the sign and said, 'oh yes, she's selling it,' and then they asked me right away for ID," Richard said.

To Richard's disbelief, the agents began writing them a ticket for selling food without a permit.

"We just live right across the street, so we thought we'd come out here and sell this - we could just leave," Richard said. "And they said, 'no, you know, we're gonna have to write you up.'"

"They made me feel really, really bad, and scared at the same time," Clemetine said. "We could have gotten into really big trouble and gotten arrested or something."

A spokesperson for the Parks Department says the agents showed poor judgment and that the ticket will be dismissed.

If and when that happens, Clementine says she will reconsider setting up another lemonade stand.

After Clementine and her dad got the ticket, they took the lemonade stand to the lobby of their building.

At the end of the day, Clementine made $19, which she plans to put in her saving account.

This is ridiculous...even more so than the one that was on the busy intersection. Vending without a license my ****...I find it hard to consider a 10 year old girl with a lemonade stand as a "vendor". It's a kid...doing the same things that kids have been doing for years and years and years.

    Completely ridiculous...

Damn criminals! First lemonaide then cookies, then what? Glad we put an end to that before it got out of hand...

Wonder how much of the peoples money was wasted from, not 1, not 2, but 3 officers writing the ticket. Hmm smooth right there.

They should really be ashamed to scare a young girl like this with such power trip. I guess the concious Park agents felt it would be appropriate to have some good citizens to pay a portion of their income

You show me a kid that goes and does his neighbor's lawn for money in this day and age, and unfortunately I'll show you a kid that's not normal, and will eventually deserve to be arrested. I've been in this neighborhood 25 years and never seen anything even slightly resembling that type of activity.

I know you wont see this George, but for those of us in small town America, it happens all the time, and when I was a kid that is how I funded my first system. I wish all kids were encouraged to do as this little girl. It teaches responsibility and investing in your own productivity. Hell, Warren Buffet started selling Cokes door to door., so who knows where this girl could end up with the right foundation.

I used to live close to Riverside Park years ago...and this is pretty bizarre...

Wish that girl had set up her stand on my street today as the temps were in the 90s with frightening humidity...I was mowing the lawn and drenched in sweat...

Would have BOUGHT and drank the entire stand's reserves!

The intersection I could wrap my head around after a bit... I got it... This is f#ckin' stupid.
I wonder if the $50 fine even paid the hourly equivalent of the officer's wage, and every hand that touches the paperwork created from the fine...
What was the point of scaring the hell out of a 10 year old girl?
Even if the ticket is dismissed, this shows a pretty poor lack of taste.

Between this and the earlier CA. lemonade stand thread, there is only one explanation:

Governement conspiracy against lemonade and lemonade users.
